Easy turbo, in the Gospels Jesus is shown to have been writing in the sand at one point. It is never revealed what it is that He writes, but a common idea, through tradition is that it was a drawing of a fish, an early Christian symbol. From watching the film, I saw what looked to be the beginnings of a fish as well.

Oh, they recognize truth alright....and THAT is the problem. It is like a cross to a vampire....or holy water to demons. They are not of the truth or the light, so they can't bear it.

As if Jesus was saying to the Sanhedrin, "I know who you are" - and that's one of the reasons they hated him. He knew their sedition.

Good point. Christians are not about to go berserk and take out their frustrations on modern day Jews because of the crucifixion of Jesus. I mean, if Christians are REALLY steamed about persecution, wouldn't they be going after modern day Romans because ancient day Romans fed Christians to the lions?

I didn't even see the second S - just thought the arm motion implied it. The scene was was very short.

The context where they flashed back to this scene seemed to reinforce my perception - but for the life of me, I can't remember where they flashed back from. Do you remember?

I always like the idea that Jesus was writing the names of the accusers, along with the women they had cheated with. This would account for why the dudes all dropped their stones and left in a hurry, before Jesus wrote their name. It's just speculation, but I like it.

Hey, I just asked my daughter! She only remembers 1 S being drawn too..and the scene itself was a flash back. That made us both remember that is was the mob scene where the prostitute was being stoned for her sins. It was in the context of when mary the prostitute remembered Jesus saving her from the mob.
