February ended on a positive note for Coalition forces as it was the lowest casualty month with the lowest casualty rate since the war began. Compared with January, U.S. fatalities dropped over 50% to 20. It was over 75% less fatalities than November which had 82 deaths. Overall, 549 U.S. have lost their lives, 456 if which were due to hostile fire.

Good post. Thanks!

Remember they tried to do exactly the same against Reagan - and failed miserably.
GW Bush will also run an optimistic campaign and....win.
Keep your faith.

Thanks for this excellent news. By the way, how do you keep track? I've been trying to do this myself with little success. All the best!

I agree the last time I posted a NONE KILLED in ACTION for 5 days the very next day we lost several.
However any fair minded KNOWLEDGEABLE person has to conclude that our troops are doing MAGNIFICENTLY and that the number of KIA's are astonishingly low considering we TOOK OVER an entire country, defeated Saddams troops, and are eliminating terrorists and loyalists on a daily basis and within one year we are well on our way to giving IRAQ a chance at FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY the likes of which would have been UNTHINKABLY perposterous just 18 months ago. Our troops are the very best in the world and no ONE comes CLOSE............EVER!
This from an old salt who thought he was part of the best! God Bless these men and women and God Bless our President.

This is a joke, right? You think Dole was idealistic? Maybe I misread your post, but as much as I like Dole, the word idealism and him did not meet, at least in the 1990s.

I don't keep track. A left-wing leaning site keeps track for me. Follow the link at the top of the article.

To: PISANO
You are correct. I mixed US with coalition casualties.
For the US, there are 380 hostile fire deaths and 169 non-combat deaths.
For the entire coalition, there have been 456 hostile fire deaths and 194 non-combat.

I remember when the media switched from reporting hostile fire deaths to all deaths when 500 was crossed. They decided that was a big enough number to start harping (like 100,000 new cops).

Good, but....
...U.S. forces are in the process of conducting the largest unit rotation since WW II. I hope every in country pro is passing along the valuable lessons learned to the new guys who are replacing them.

He sold us out and agreed to a tax increase. He deserved to get beaten. Did America deserve to get Clinton because President Bush wasn't perfect? Did I deserve to endure the humiliation of having Clinton for our President because President Bush wasn't perfect?

February Sees Lowest U.S. Casualty Rate Since Iraq War Began I was wondering why you never hear about Iraq in the new lately. Not enough body bags for the vampires of the left.

This table from the page tbeatty posted (
Iraq Coalition Casualty Count ) is very telling.

Also, keep in mind this is total fatalities, not just hostile fatalities. February had the fewest casualties since the beginning of the war, by a rather significant margin. It's surprising to me that there were more casualties in May and June, the immediate post-war period when it seemed like the "resistance" hadn't really geared up yet. I just hope we can keep up the good news. If March has similar numbers, I'll feel like we've turned a corner. |

You are right about both the vast power of the supporters of Evil and the clueless American voter. However, the RATmedia has made some serious mistakes which are hurting their credibility. The Janet Jackson exposure revealled a total disconnect with middle American and the hysteria surrounding the "Passion" does not help it regain it.
The Hive of Evil has been kicked over and the Hornets are enraged and delirious in a manner speaking of great desperation. As long as it keeps overreaching we still have a chance. They are stinging each other.

Your argument doesn't follow. Republicans shouldn't expect to get the vote if they betray their own platforms.
That's kind of like, you know, like, the reason we have different political parties and platforms and stuff.

I expect to hear them (Kerry, democrats, the media) if they do mention this to add ...Of course, February has the fewest number of days.

" The report is in ERROR. There have been 380 lost due to HOSTILE fire. 549 total and 380 by HOSTILE FIRE. This is up through FEB 28." I sincerely wish there was 1 single reporter somewhere who would take it upon himself to research the total number of US military personnel that have died, world-wide, in the last year.. I honestly believe the number that died outside of Iraq would exceed the number that died inside Iraq.

Parties have nothing to do with my belief that I should vote and act in a way that most helps my country.
Whatever "points" you are trying to score against the Republicans pale in comparison to the harm that was done when the Clintons gained such power in our country and the world.

A month of last gasps after Saddam was caught. Just about over now.
