February ended on a positive note for Coalition forces as it was the lowest casualty month with the lowest casualty rate since the war began. Compared with January, U.S. fatalities dropped over 50% to 20. It was over 75% less fatalities than November which had 82 deaths. Overall, 549 U.S. have lost their lives, 456 if which were due to hostile fire.

I doubt you're going to see this on the Mainstream media so I wrote my own.

But of course, that's not news...

This wasn't a banner headline in the NYT's?.
Or is the Master's protest coming up again?

Thank you for the facts. I was just thinking this the other day, but I wasn't sure whether I was just succumbing to wishful thinking or if there really had been fewer attacks.
As you say, the mainstream media certainly couldn't be bothered to tell us this.

I know that keeping casualty statistics is necessary, but to flaunt anything about them is, to me, not good karma.

I thought about that. But I also remmeber the left using them to attack the war. Lunaville is definitely a lefty site but it has accurate data. In November all you heard on the Mainstream media was how many serviceman had died "since Bush declared major combat over." Even in January, the media was talking about how capturing saadam didn't reduce the death toll. Well, here's the data. U.S. serviceman dying is bad karma. But they are doing a great job and it is getting safer in Iraq everyday thanks to their hard work.

To: tbeatty
Good news.
I figured this was the case since it's been a couple weeks since I've heard the 'death a day' mantra spewing from the leftists.

The reality that they lost the war (again) is begining to sink in.

I appreaciate that. And, of course, I was only speaking for myself.

Thanks for posting this. The Lunaville site does appear to have comprehensive statistics. The number of wounded is way down too.
If trends continue, Iraq will not be the issue the Dems are hoping for.

I've seen this coming for weeks. Note that even these folks are signing onto calling accidents casualties. That is shaky. Any time there is increased activity there are deaths. Only combat deaths should particularly matter for this measurement -- despite the reality that all deaths are tragic.
By that criterion, the plummet in US KIA is even greater.

Isn't it amazing that almost the same leftists who were "offended" by our forces using body counts in Vietnam are now using them in this war and our military isn't? Only it's our troops they're counting.

It matters not what Bush says or does. It matters not what Kerry says or does. Under Kerry, happy Iraqi's will be interviewed, and the wonderful work of our soldiers will finally be displayed. Afganistan will suddenly not be a "mess" any more, and France and Germancy will love us again.
The NY elite media want him gone, he will be gone. No way will he be able to "go over the heads of the media", those days are long gone.
They did it to Dole, and Bush 41, almost did it in 2000, they will succeed in 2004. Their influence in enormous. Think about it. They even influence "freepers".

If they want health-care in the news, it will be a crisis.
If they want jobs in the news, no-matter what the unemloyment rate is, it will be a crisis.
If they want Iraq, WMD, Afgan, Osama, Middle East peace, Haiti, it will be a crisis and Bush's fault.
And on and on. The news will be delievered with no context, or explaination, (except for Kerry's votes, his military service, his elite east coast background, which has already been whitewashed by CNN with a VERY flattering bio of Kerry)
They have already labeled Bush's ad against Kerry's votes somehow negative.
They will report and spin anyway they like. (H. Finnman said he talks to middle america, and they say Bush hasn't grown in office, and is not up to the job) A stunning statement that all of the "objective reporters" guests on Russert's weekend show agreed with.
Example, I spoke with a neighbor yesterday who has never been political. She told me that the Iraq war took place because the Bush family is in business with the Saudi's.
Since she brought it up, I explained the 91 Gulf War, ( of which she admitted to knowing nothing), and of course she knew nothing about any facts on any issues, (mid-30's, wife of a DR) and educated.
Even the "Disney 2004" book I looked at, (sister is going), said this of the American display at Epcot.
"The patriotism is HEAVYHANDED"! I had a 99' and 00' book so I checked, nothing but praise for the American display.
I am afraid all we can do is talk to everyone we meet, and pray, pray, pray.

This is really going to disappoint the hard left in the Democrat party, like the DUmmies, for instance.
