I got this email from a fellow hunter in Ireland. He and his fellow hunters need help:
Hello, My name is Pat Bell I am a member of a shooting club in Dublin Ireland. At the club we obey a paper target / sils only law, but away from the club a few of us participate in the usual vermin control that farmers require.
I am particularly Employed (for no payment) to a number of farmers in the Co Wicklow area, In order to control the abundance of fox that inhabits the land.
My methods include Lamping / Night Vision / Calling. All end in a humane kill by a well placed .22 Hornet VMAX bullet within 150 yards. I to date hold 10 National target shooting medals, with another 5 to be presented at the NASRC AGM, which is due to be held in the next fortnight. I am well able to kill a fox with 1 shot.
I am writing to you in order to hopefully enlist your help in an online vote that is currently almost out of control SHOULD FOXES BE FULLY PROTECTED IN IRELAND ? 72% YES 25% NO.
Could you please advise your members and visitors of this and refer them to the site:

We love your site keep up the good work!
Many thanks,
P.Bell.

Thank you, Al. Also using this to give a heads-up to the friends on my foxhunters' e-list. The people who want to protect all the dear little fluffies have no realistic understanding of country life or agriculture and don't realize how bad things get when the fox population in the UK or Ireland is allowed to breed out of control.

Freeped. I like animals (especially foxes) but red foxes are in no danger of becoming extinct ever going by their track record, so some population control isn't going to hurt them.
If they ever run out in Ireland they can have some of ours!

What's Gaelic for "Shoot, shovel, and shut up?"

I think Americans have no business weighing in on this purely Irish issue.

FReeped, were up to 30%.
When foxes overpopulate, Rabies takes them down. Controlling foxes is controlling rabies.

Thanks to all who have taken the time to vote. It is an uphill battle considering the site that is running the poll.
