ATM cards are unprotected and dangerous. Never use 'em myself. Credit cards are safer and protected.

There was nobody around at all. BUT there was one of those little flyer holders as mentioned by other people AND an old beat up car parked about 25 feet from the ATM...

I would watch a day or two and wait. ATM charges from "foreign" machines sometimes double up and get corrected automatically. On the othere hand I got double billed at a grocery store and had to fight to get it removed.

Actually, that used to be the case. These days, ATM (debit) cards carry the same guarantees and protection that credit cards do. (ATM/Debit cards with visa/mc logo only.)

I have heard they sometimes do this by inserting something under the keypad, which records your PIN as you type it in.

I haven't used an outdoor ATM since I heard this.
