The water does not need filtering. It is already filtered by public services. And they provide it for 0.06 c/liter, less than 1/3000 the Coke price.

Maybe your public water doesn't need filtering, but MINE does. No one in LA would drink water out of the tap although it does vary by location.
Coke filters the water many times taking all of the impurities out ... then adds minerals. Having said that I don't like Dasani. I usually by Arrowhead Water by the case.

I won't drink bottled water of any ilk unless it's free. I have a well that is contaminated with bacteria after last spring's snow melted. Despite attempts to decontaminate it, I couldn't get rid of the bacteria.
As a result I had to install a UV sterilizer, a water softener and a reverse osmosis drinking water generator. My drinking water tastes better than any bottled water I've ever sampled.
Reverse osmosis is the process used by many bottled water companies to purify tap water. Read some of the labels and you'll find statements like: "Source municipal water supply, Ft. Worth, Texas purified by reverse osmosis."
