The Bunyoro-Kitara kingdom in Uganda says it is suing the UK for alleged atrocities committed by its soldiers during the colonial period.
A spokesman for the Kingdom Ernest Kizza told the BBC they are seeking £3trillion ($5,500bn).
Mr Kizza said they will present written evidence at the International Court in the Hague to prove their case.
He also said that the UK colonial authorities took their land and give it to a rival kingdom.
Kingdoms in Uganda were banned in 1966 but 10, including Bunyoro-Kitara, were restored when President Yoweri Museveni came to power in 1987.
"Bunyoro was one of the richest kingdom's in Africa that was plundered and destroyed. Until now the population is in poverty," Mr Kizza told the BBC's Network Africa programme.
He said they have letters written to the Queen of England by military officers informing her of the number of families and animals destroyed in the invasions.
The western Ugandan Bunyoro-Kitara kingdom resisted the British but was conquered after the rival Buganda kingdom joined hands with the British.
Mr Kizza said they also intend to sue the Buganda kingdom and the Uganda government to recover their land lost following the invasion. He said the British government signed an agreement with the Buganda kingdom in 1900 allowing them to take over land belonging to the Bunyoro-Kitara kingdom.

Yes, it's that evil white man again.
Maybe we should have just waited for Africa to come to us.
But wait. It already has.

It's going to be fun watching the cash-strapped EU having to deal with third worlders using PC guilt suits instead of production to gain wealth. Their liberal/socialist monster bites them back.

It seems Africa has an oversupply of these kooks and nut-jobs. On the other hand, we have an oversupply of lawyers.
To: Eric in the Ozarks
True, but we were going to be sued anyway. Sad to say that real legal reform will probably come in the aftermath of terrorists nuking one of our cities.

Hehe, 3 trillion quid indeed.
The kingdom has a
website.
It all looks good, some very worthwile projects planned, a technical college to teach people useful skills, laws planned to stop early marriages etc.
Then I got to this bit - the section about Electronic Communication.
The kingdom is making strides in imparting modern telecommunication and digital information technology skills to our youth. The first of these efforts is at the Bunyoro-Kitara Community Tele Centre, where basic computing skills are taught. There is a shortage of work stations, as there is a total of five computers. Donations of computing equipment will be gratefully accepted.
Another constraint is poor connectivity. We lack a portal to the Internet. Currently, there is a total of six ordinary telephone lines that link the town of Hoima to the rest of the world. The centre has to compete for space on these congested lines. We are fundraising for satelitte connectivity. When realized, the user community will offset the cost by paying for connectivity time.
Six phone lines in their major town!!! What in the name of god are they going to do with three trillion pounds? There must be some mistake with the figures here :)

Further investigation reveals that they have a population of 800,000. That's £3.75 million in damages each. That's pretty brass necked by anyones standards. They must have been fabulously wealthy and prosperous before the British came.

BWAHAHAHAHA! effing ridiculous.
I'm sure these ludicrously greedy bastards came up with this figure after painstaking review of meticulously kept records, careful assessments of crop and livestock price comparisons over decades, stock analysis, and...
Ah, bulls#it!
