WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A senior FBI official says authorities have disrupted 35 terrorist-related incidents since the September 11, 2001, attacks.

"These include both domestic and international terrorism matters and consist of a variety of preventive actions, including arrests, seizure of funds and disruption of terrorist recruiting and training efforts and even, in certain cases, the prevention of actual attacks," said Larry Mefford, assistant director of counterterrorism for the FBI. He was testifying Thursday before a Senate judiciary subcommittee.

Zero? Since 9-11, LA Airport, International Terminal, El Al counters shootout. Isreali air security shot the guy.

Crazed, lone nut.

An anomoly; not the product of an organized world-wide terrorist organization ...

Given the location and the attack on the Isreali airline I see this as more than a simple crime. I do agree that it was apparently not connected to an organized plot, but it was a religious belief, as far as I recall.

How ask yourself, why is it that ZERO details about these supposed acts of "terrorism" have been released?

Mark this down in your memory and file an FOI request in twenty years ...

Common sense applied here might tell you that methods and sources could be compromised were the details to be disclosed.

That would be beautiful, but I'm afraid the Republicans don't have the intestinal fortitude to do something like that.

Common sense would tell me that Homeland Security can't find it's ass with both hands and a flashlight, and that secrecy is used to cover up incompetence, as it is in 99.9% of applications of secrecy in government.

... your stock answer.

On both points: I know.

On both points again: I think we all know.

So please, spare us the continuing lectures along these lines ...

The VRW must be out of control now that the focus has been put towards the Middle East.

OK, out of how many detentions under the Patroit Acts and other terrorism related laws, how many have resulted in convictions?

One? Maybe ZERO?

Surely there are terrorists among us that really need arrent and conviction, but Tom Ridge and his Keyston Kops ain't doing the job, _Jimbo.

They are buffoons. They lie to cover up their buffoonery. There is ample reason to think federal law enforcement doesn't lie all the time - only when their lips are moving.

"There is ample reason to think federal law enforcement doesn't lie all the time..."

LOL! Given the choice of the FBI or you....hmmmmm? I don't think the government is ready to compete with you yet. But you sure are on a rant tonight...well, not really any different then any other day for you.

It would all be quite hunorous except for the price tag. At what averages a few billion dollars per conviction of some poor schmuck running an unlicensed money changing operation in Brooklyn, it will take only 100-200 trillion dollars in Homeland Security funding to actually track down the few thousand really dangerous jihadis in the U.S. and another 500 trillion to expel their sympathizers. Meanwhile, we the people are bare-assed to another attack.

So tell me then, if it is a joke to you:

An example of the TSA thwarting a hijack attempt. Or did we just spend billions of dollars to accumulate the world's largest used nail clipper collection (and has Ripley's been notified of this accomplishment)? Will they be going fo rthe largest rubber band ball next year?

Or, how about this: Is the FBI any more effective than the TSA people - people who don't have the personal hygene to work in airport food service? How many convicted terrorists? How much money spent per convicted terrorist?

Oh, excellent name-calling.

Billions wasted on ineffective white-shirted slackers. And the best you can come up with is "putz." Gee, you might even qualify to work ("work" as they define it) for the TSA!

Which brings to mind: WHat is the TSA's success rate against "tiger teams" trying to slip banned items past them? Does ZERO sound familiar?

Oh, but only a "putz" would point that out.

But then, as a "CWO," you would also know that the Coast Guard's interdiction success rate is in the single digits, which puts you waaaaay ahead of the the TSA, right?

Repatriate any Cubans lately?

I don't know how much of a nut he was, but the allegations of child abuse and drug-making were baseless.

Do you know what a "Branch Davidian" is? A regenade Seventh Day Adventist. Oooooooo. Scary! Boy, when those Seveth Day Adventists go bad, it makes Al Quaida look like Girl Scouts. Oooooo! Better burn them to save the world.

If it was such a rightous take down, why not publish the names of all those involved? Same for the Elian Raid.
