Kerry Says Bush Uses Sept. 11 in Ads to Scare America (Update1)

An important point is being missed in all of this faux froth about using 9/11 images . Those images belong to the national conscience, they are not wholly owned by the families of victims. I'm sorry if someone is offended by them and am empathetic to the pain suffered. However, the scar on that landscape is the scar shared by all of us to differing degrees.

That scar is an impetus that sent many a young person off to their local recruiting offices to fight this war on terrorism. They cannot be denied a reminder of what they fight for, and neither can we!

It was not the first strike on us, but it was the first strike responded to as an act of war, and that President was President Bush.

Kerry is now talking about a Bush Commercial. Kerry is being taken off-message. He couldn't help himself. Democrats have been saying all day that Bush was being criticized by victim's families. Then McAuliffe spoke up, and now Kerry. Bush won't be intimidated, and will keep the ads going to see if Kerry yells louder.

It's now not an issue of offended victim's families, it's an issue of partisan food-fighting. Rove had to know that Kerry was going to have his bitches in the press conduct a jihad about this commercial. Now he's got an idea about the food chain and the way it works. Now the Bush people can work the system to their advantage.

And the commercials? They'll keep going on. Kerry is stupid enough to start talking about them, so people will be curious about them. They'll pay attention-to Bush's commericials.

And that 1.5 million dollars that MoveOn.org spent on their commercials? Kerry and his people just stepped all over that, too.

Vietnam is an issue IMO. How many times have we heard, "It's going to take another 9/11 to wake up America?" That could mean tens? hundreds? of thousands of dead Americans.

Here in the states we let things go unnoticed in those years, not unlike today. Thousands of American and allied troops and tens of thousands of Vietnamese civilians died because of it.

The innocence and naiveté of post W.W.II was still America. It was easy for the press-sanctioned "anti-war" movement to dominate after 1968. Two things happened that year. The Viet Cong was virtually destroyed and a Republican was elected president.

Our troops were winning and there was no popular uprising with the Tet offensive as North Vietnam expected. The South's government still had popularity problems but IMO thanks to LBJ's shock at the initial Tet attacks* and our press' focus on the negative it ruined any chance of getting serious peace talks out of the North even though they knew they had lost.

Instead the left went into a full court press, again not unlike today. They controlled the debate. It became Vietnam, the quagmire. It became the Republican president's fault. Not that LBJ went unnoticed by the left but that was mostly in the "underground" Ramparts, East Village Other, and Berkeley Barb stuff.

Disrupt and destroy the Republican administration became the left's objectives, again not unlike today. After several more years and thousands and thousands of deaths the traitors had their way and we had a war lost at home.

Traditional Democrats and the apolitical folks must be given the opportunity to see the John Kerrys for what they did a generation ago. Our lives depend upon it. Our Nation depends upon it. IMO.

* Let me be clear. Things had been going well and reported pretty much as such. Then all of a sudden here was TV images day after day after day (the same footage) showing Viet Cong in Saigon. LBJ's shock was more because of what this bad news would do to his domestic agenda. IMO he could not have cared less about how many lives were lost.
