"America owns 9-11", editorial by Roger Wm. Hughes
The actions of some of the 9-11 family members makes me want my contribution back. We Americans made these individuals millionaires. I recognize that there is no amount of money that can indemnify someone for the loss of a loved one. However, our courts do it every day.
What is disheartening about these families calling Bushs ads apprehensible is that they think they own this tragedy. They dont. Neither does the greedy Firemans Union.
This tragedy has only one other close equivalency in our history. That similar tragic moment was the unprovoked attack by Japan on Pearl Harbor. The victims of Ground-Zero are like the soldiers and sailors of Pear Harbor. They are both linked to the inevitable fate of other nations and philosophy trying to prevail over others for their own benefit.
The attackers of 9-11 hate us because of who and what we are. To satisfy them we must stone Madonna and all in our society like her and make our women cover themselves from head-to-foot.
George Bush is right to use footage of 9-11 in his campaign commercials. This President is fighting the War on Terrorism, just as Franklin D. Roosevelt used scenes and references to Pearl Harbor in his campaign and rallying of America into World War II.
While I have many differences with the Democratic presumptive nominee for President, Sen. John Kerry, none are more pronounced than his confusing votes and explanations on the two Iraqi wars. He voted against stopping Saddam Husseins invasion of Kuwait. He voted for invading Iraq, and then said he made a mistake in giving that authority to President Bush.
Senator John Flip-Flop Kerry cannot be trusted with the security of this nation.
Bush is right. He is the steady leader who took us through the Pearl Harbor of our times. He is the one who told the firefighter that "You may not hear me but soon the whole world will hear you." He is the President who turned those words into reality. And now, the terrorists are facing their greatest nightmare -- a free and independent Iraq.
Bush, we God-fearing Americans recognize that you are taking the fight to the terrorists, and we support you. It may be uncomfortable for others to recognize this fact, but they need to be reminded anyway.
Mr. President, keep up the good work.
