Say you have $100. You open two bank accounts. When you deposit that cash into one of the accounts you have:

Acct 1:$100
Acct 2:$0

Then, you write a check from Acct 1 to Acct 2 for $100. Since there is a delay for the funds to transfer, on a bank statement you have:

Acct 1:$100
Acct 2:$100

Then you write a check from Acct 2 to Acct 1 for $100:

Acct 1:$200
Acct 2:$100

And so on. It's kinda like juggling. You have to keep going back and forth so that you don't mess up. It's pretty easy to track, and highly illegal.
