The Justice Department investigation that criticized FBI agents for taking souvenirs from the World Trade Center site also found that Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and a high-ranking FBI official kept items from the Sept. 11 attack scenes. The final investigatory report said the Justice Department inspector general confirmed Rumsfeld "has a piece of the airplane that flew into the Pentagon." The Associated Press obtained a copy of the report Friday.
Pentagon spokesman Lawrence Di Rita said Friday night that Rumsfeld has a shard of metal from the jetliner that struck the Pentagon on a table in his office and shows it to people as a reminder of the tragedy Pentagon workers shared on Sept. 11, 2001.
"He doesn't consider it his own," Di Rita said, adding the piece is on display for the Pentagon. "We are mindful of the fact that if somebody has an evidentiary requirement to have this shard of metal, we will provide it to them."

This is actually good.
When they go after Rummie on stupid issues like this... it's clear they are really scraping the barrel. This must be their best shot.
they = left wing crazies.

I went to Capitol Hill Blue's website, and sure enough that is the headline: "Rumsfeld 'Stole' 9-11 Evidence. . ."
I could express my reaction to that headline in one word -- but I don't use that type of language in public. These people are beyond sick. Next time someone asks me "What liberal media?" I will direct them to that web page.
As for Rumsfeld? Anyone who survived the 9-11 attack at the Pentagon *should* have a piece of the plane as a reminder of why we are fighting.
Go Rummy!

As I mentioned yesterday, I'll bet Supreme Commander Dwight Eisenhower "stole" something from Utah Beach to remind him of his mens' sacrifice.
This headline is sedition, pure and simple.

Who cares if Rummy has this piece of trash on his desk?
I do not. So let it remind the world what the Islamics have done to the people of the USA, lest we forget.

Personally ive allways felt that pieces of the World trade center should have been sent to every american citizen as a reminder.

"Rumsfeld "has a piece of the airplane that flew into the Pentagon.""
Making matters worse is that it's part of the "Right Wing" or the airplane.

If you look into their forum you can see a couple of posters laughing about the headline and owner of the site proudly proclaiming that he wrote the headline.

Well, since by most accounts, Rumsfeld raced directly toward the scene of the carnage and was personally helping people to escape the fire and smoke, I will give him a pass on this "theft" of evidence. He earned it.
Sheesh.

If you look into their forum you can see a couple of posters laughing about the headline and owner of the site proudly proclaiming that he wrote the headline. Doug Thompson was once reliably conservative, and even posted on this website.
Since Bush came to office, he's turned into a liberal mouthpiece, and has had to apologize for a couple of his outrageous articles.
I wonder if he's still as fat as he used to be? If you still lurk here, Dog, why not lose a pound or two? It might help your nasty disposition.

This headline takes the cake as the stupidest of the year (so far). The one about the Iraqi spy being a shirttail relative of Andy Card only held the title for about a week.

The "shard" never left the scene of the incident....whats the beef?
To: Columbine
The head guy of the actual building that was hit has a reminder in his office for all to see and remind them of what the WOT is all about ... that is no where near the same thing as someone picking up and keeping a piece of the Columbia wreckage or something. Besides, is there evidence that he took the item without asking or did he requisition it? If there is no evidence that he took it, then I suggest a lawsuit against the paper. Who knows, maybe the shard scratched his arm - not enough to make him miss a day's work or anything - and he kept it in lieu of his Purple Heart.

Yep, I remember when the site was conservative. It changed immediately following 9/11. They claim to be non-partisan now which is just about the second funniest thing they've ever said over there.
I like your tagline, btw.

I think that all officials in the Pentagon and Dept. of Homeland Security should have a piece of the WTC towers on their desk.
They would be a daily reminder of the serious consequences of failing to use every means at their disposal to root out terrorists and kill them before they kill us.
