Pew Foundation to Albright to Today Show - Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy?
The Today Show

Posted on 03/17/2004 4:40:00 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Just two days ago, Hillary Clinton, coming to the defense of John Kerry on his "lying, crooked" comment, rehashed her famous comment, made on the Today Show, that Bill Clinton had been the target of a "vast right-wing conspiracy," now claiming that Kerry is the target of a similar operation.

Well, Today viewers this morning were treated to prime example of the vast left-wing . . . well, we're not paranoid enough to call it a 'conspiracy.' Let's just describe it as an 'interlocking directorate.'

Here's what happened: yesterday, the liberal Pew Foundation published a study finding, among other things, that people in Germany and France don't agree with our policy in Iraq (surprise!) and think the Bush administration was misleading on the WMD issue (I'm shocked!). Oh, and guess what? Many in the Muslim world don't like us either, and many do like OBL (who would of thunk it?)

Well, guess who just happens to be the Chair of the Pew Foundation's "Global Attitudes Project," which commissioned the study? Why, none other than former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright! And guess who Madame Albright is advising on foreign policy? Well I'll be darned, it's John Kerry!

And finally, guess who turned up on The Today Show this morning to tout the findings of her poll and solemnly declare that the results are "troubling" and suggest that we need a change in direction? Why, none other than the Ms. Mint-on-the-Pillow herself!

Interviewer Matt Lauer tried to give Albright some cover (thank goodness. The last thing anyone could take in the morning would be an uncovered Madeleine Albright). He gave her the chance to answer the question whether her chairing of the Pew committee that ordered the study brings its findings into question. No, she assured us. She "might have her own views, but facts are facts."

They sure are.

The Today show is so biased the Republicans should ask for equal time.

By the name, in a subsequent segment, Chris Matthews had this upbeat observation: the Bush ad against Kerry showing that the tall, haughty, French-looking liberal Senator from Mass. had voted against a series of defense programs was "a bullseye."

Added Matthews "the thing is, they [the ad makers] have Kerry's votes. He criticized the Bush administration for not supplying body armor to the troops, and now it turns out he voted against it!"

Yeah, but you still have me giggling over this:

I saw that poll yesterday--it's plastered all over the AOL welcome screen. It was no surprise to see Pew as the source of that poll.

That poll is nothing less than a political contribution to the Kerry campaign by the Pew Foundation, which as a tax-exempt organization is prohibited from engaging in partisan politics.

I mean, can't you just imagine how this went down in Pew's inner sanctum? "Hey, let's start something called the 'Global Attitudes Project,' and Maddy can run it, and we can give her a budget, do polls, give her a national platform to tout her views, etc. Perfect!"

They are so OPEN this year with the partisan support. I guess that Katie & Co. think the average Today show viewer is to stupid to put two and two together.

Rush was right yesterday. The mainstream media has become the partisan media.

I have been watching the Pew Foundations for some time. They are almost never referred to as "liberal" or "left-wing," yet their opinion polls are always quoted as if it is something handed down from the Oracle at Delphi.
