Hispanics aren't necessarily "non-white", either in skin tone or in culture. That's why this is all rather bogus even on any factual level.
And I agree with others that even if it -were- true, who cares? Skin color isn't the problem, a refusal to partially assimilate in the name of "diversity" is. (note: I have no problem with people maintaining their extra-national cultural heritage to a degree - it's when they take it to the extreme of rejecting the domestic cultural heritage that there's a big problem)
I say all this, btw, as a Cuban American.

Neither do I. From what I have seen, most Cuban Americans in California assimilate quickly, whereas, the last 10 years, Mexican immigrants, especially illegals, no longer do so.

I say all this, btw, as a Cuban American. Great post. Based on what you say, you are an American. True Americans don't use adjectives. You are an American or you aren't.
But, "American descended from Cubans" certainly fits the bill!

You are correct, hispanic as non-white is a PC phenomenon.
(what the heck is "latino"? I must be a west coast university thaaaang.)
I see the article as wishful thinking and can be rewritten as follows. Conservatives will only be half the population, leftists will make up 49.99% of the population.
This of course assumes the democrat party will exist in 50 years.

Michael Medved makes this very point all the time. Many Hispanics in the US identify themselves as white. Take a look at all the politicians in Mexico and all the Telemundo soaps- descended directly from Castilian families with hardly any mestizo blood.
