Doug Grow: Is DFL losing grip on reality?

Doug Grow, Star Tribune
March 18, 2004

Oh, those wild-and-crazy DFLers. They've come up with a parody of the sleazy political ads that pollute the airwaves and cheapen political discourse.

In this knee-slapping TV DFL satire, they've got a closeup of Gov. Tim Pawlenty's eyes watching as Minnesota streets are filled with sexual predators.

What? Not a parody?

The DFLers were so serious they held a news conference Tuesday to unveil the 30-second spot that is supposed to show that Pawlenty is responsible for sexual predators being freed, presumably to rape and murder.

[...]

Larry Jacobs, a political science professor at the University of Minnesota, said the ad sends a powerful message.

The message?

"The DFL is seriously lacking in strategic intelligence," Jacobs said. "This is Exhibit G."

I told Jacobs that Ranum and Mike Erlandson, the DFL's party chair, seem quite proud of the ad. They believe that it shows that Pawlenty's budget cuts are jeopardizing quality of life in Minnesota.

Jacobs groaned.

"It's very telling that a day later they're standing behind it," Jacobs said. "We all make false starts; those little mistakes. They could just groan and say 'bad idea,' pull it off the air and move on. But that they're still defending it is troubling. You have to wonder what planet they're on."

[...]

Many more DFL ads like this, and his party won't have to buy ads at all.

The problem is the RATS in this State are terrified of any politician (especially the Governor) advocating the death penalty. Contrary to their views, such a penalty would meet with overwhelming support and especially so in greater Minnesota.

It's called the "bait and switch" technique, in that instead of the "death penalty" we are going to have a debate on whether the Governor plans to let all the perverts out with no consequences. Unless you can see this stratgy the RAT efforts make no sense.

In addition, the whole question of the mentally ill and dangerous is rife with problems; however, this is not the thread for that.

The Minnesota DFL never had a grip on reality. For the last 35 years the DFL has been run by the Move-on.org style hate American far leftist loonies. What IS intresting is even their mouth pieces at the Star Triubune (AKA the Democratic Party Press) have reached the point where they have to call the DFL on their hate speech.

Ok.. what happened?

Did aliens kidnap Doug Grow and swap him for a Conservative?

I can't believe he actually wrote this, let alone that the Red Star Diaper actually published it
