ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- USA Today said Friday that an examination of the work of journalist Jack Kelley found strong evidence that the newspaper's former star foreign correspondent had fabricated substantial portions of at least eight major stories.
"As an institution, we failed our readers by not recognizing Jack Kelley's problems. For that I apologize," publisher Craig Moon said.

It has since been learned that the US did not invade Iraq, Venezuela did not elect a Socialit president, and there is no such place as Portugal.

Commandment 9: Thou shalt not bear false witness.
That includes those who deny God His due glory, He is a loving God and a patient and not willing that any should perish; but liberals lust for power and will lie and cheat and steal to obtain their lusts.
Would they only realize the LORD GOD who created the world and man on it, they would spend less time raging against the LORD and His commandments and more time doing that which glorifies Him and His anointed one, Jesus Christ, Lord and Saviour of them that believe.

Jack Kelley....a fraud? I'm shocked....shocked, I say....
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Kelley spent his entire 21-year career at USA Today and was five times nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, the most prestigious award in journalism. In other words, he is the cream of the crop... the best of the best.
Says a lot for the state of journalism.

Where have I heard this before? Is it any wonder why the press is losing credibility? It is a good thing for them that newspapers still make good birdcage liners.

This article is vague about the nature of Mr. Kelly's fabrications. Its a safe bet that any extra slant he put in these stories did not slant our way.
If these folks were honest, the first or second paragraph of this story would detail what Kelly said that was not true and provide us with the details of whose work he plagiarized.

Kelly said he'd never fabricated or plagiarized. The question is: "Is this statement a fabrication or did he plagiarize from the New York Times"?

USA Today is trying to instill more rigorous discipline. There will be no more freelance lying. All partisan lies and smears will be first cleared at the editor level.

It is no accident that the leftist press corps is riddled with fakes, plagiarists and cheats. The whole case for the Left is a fake. There has never been a socialist paradise and never will be. The Left rewrote the rules of journalism to propagandize their own agenda instead of sticking to facts. In the press, in schools and universities, from their pulpits, they have to make up fairy tales to brainwash their useful idiots and to keep themselves in power.

Now that reporter Jack Kelley is leaving USA Today (after the paper found Kelley fabricated sources in at least one story, and Kelley attempted a cover-up), we are really wondering about this story of Kelley's - from 9/4/01:
Israeli Extremists Take Revenge on Palestinians
http://www.mafhoum.com/press2/61P2.htm The critique of this story in IMRA notes that none of the purported vigilantees described by Kelley could be found.
http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=8039 Why am I not surprised?

Journalists are being seen more clearly as containing within their ranks many treadmill driven writers of fiction for a buck, even at the top of their ranks.

No doubt that federal agents read U.S.A. Today.
Should not Mr. Kelley go to jail for having lied to federal agents? Join Martha Stewart in bondage?
