Homosexual book for 1st-graders

Parents outraged over story where prince finds love with another prince

© 2004 WorldNetDaily.com

A North Carolina couple is outraged by a book their first-grade daughter brought home from the school library in which a prince finds his true love – in the form of another prince.

The leading character in "King & King," Prince Bertie, waves off a bevy of eligible princesses before falling for Prince Lee, Associated Press reported. The book ends with the two "marrying" and sharing a kiss.

"I was flabbergasted," Michael Hartsell of Wilmington, N.C., told the news service. "My child is not old enough to understand something like that, especially when it is not in our beliefs."

AP reports the 32-page book by Linda De Haan and Stern Nijland was published in March 2002 by Tricycle Press, the children's division of Ten Speed Press of Berkeley, Calif. A follow-up, "King & King & Family," was recently published. The publisher says the book is intended for readers age 6 and up.

The principal of Freeman Elementary School defended the book.

"What might be inappropriate for one family, in another family is a totally acceptable thing," Principal Elizabeth Miars is quoted as saying.

Hartsell and his wife, Tonya, said they intend to file a written complaint with the committee that reviews library books for the district and are considering transferring their daughter.

It's these mamby pamby half measures that allow this kind of completely unacceptable garbage to be used in the indoctrination/communisation (is that a word?) of our kids. If that were my daughter, she'd have been out of that school immediately. Complaint? NO! Lawsuit! There has to be something on the books about the corruption of children, violating parental rights, something. This crap has got to stop!

I wonder if this principal presides over a "zero tolerance" program in her school. If so, I wonder if she sees the hypocrisy in her statement.

Something I read from a previous thread that sums up the public school problem well:

"We have an inherently self-defeating system operating in this school and throughout the entire national school system.

We pass a law that compels children to present themselves to school board custody for several hours a day, 5 days a week during the school year. If the child does not comply and present himself, he or his parents or both can be incarcerated or fined for truancy. The parents can conceivably lose custody of their own children for egregious violations.

While in daily custody of the educational establishment, the child is likely to be indoctrinated in alien cultural, religious, scientific, or sexual dogmas. The child will very likely be prohibited from practicing his inherited religious customs such as prayer. He will also be restricted in his speech; for example he would likely be prohibited from political speech, racial comments, or “hate” speech. He will be restricted in his ability to exercise free association; for example, he might well be prohibited from joining a Christian club. His second amendment rights to bear arms will be entirely suspended. His constitutional rights to display graphic images of firearms or even military organizations can result in suspension.

The child will be under enormous pressure to conform to the educational establishment’s explicit codes but also to its unspoken mores and values which might be repugnant to his family’s. Failure to outwardly conform can lead to public oblique and future financial harm.

Much of the regulations which are routinely enforced against students are not published but AD HOC, unequally enforced, subject to arbitrary change and without administrative appeal.

The burocracy which assumes custody of the child every day is not directly responsible to the child or his parents. His teacher, his principal, and his counselor are insulated from control by the school board, presumably an elected body, by tenure, statute and union prerogative. Resort to the courts for relief at best results in relief which is untimely, expensive, and limited to constitutional questions or egregious cases.

The whole is dominated by a pernicious culture of political correctness infected by a virulent strain of anti-Christian bigotry.

If the parents resist these strictures by home schooling, they may be persecuted, threatened, and denied extra curricular benefits ordinarily provided to other tax payer’s children who do conform.

Finally, by any objective standard, the whole system utterly fails at its only legitimate mission: The education of our kids.

Dang...our family lives in the exact same bubble.

My 6 year old son (who knows more about our government than most high school seniors) happened to see a "Rock the Vote" ad today--on Nickelodean, a channel we'll NEVER watch again. A young man was giving a little monologue about how "Our government sent my brother to war in Iraq but never asked him if he supports the war...our government tells us who we can and can't marry without asking us," yadda yadda. My son asked me--no kidding--"Did George H. W. Bush make you marry dad?" (Bush Sr. was president when we married.) I told him the commercial was nothing but lies and that in America a man can marry any woman he wants--if she wants to marry him, and that a woman can marry any man she wants--if he wants to marry her.

To my dismay he followed up with "Can I marry Christa? She likes Lord of the Rings, too."

This where the homosexual agenda and "gay marriage" are taking the country. I would take the time to post an outraged ranting diatribe on Free Republic but I would just get too upset.

Slip a copy of 'Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby' onto the bookshelf, or a DVD of 'Song Of The South' into the A/V department's media collection

I don't suppose you know where to get a copy of 'Song of the South' on DVD do you?

As time goes by, the vile anti-social behavior of Queers steadily gets worse and worse . . . as this current FReeper article demonstrates!!! Therefore, allow me to repeat my own personal rant one more time:

Oak Hay, so I'm very disturbed and continually puzzled about how a small bunch of contrary to nature freaks can destroy our entire civilization. . . BUT DAMMIT, THEY'RE DOING IT !!!

These unsavory and unclean sub-human creatures delight in ramming their urine exhaust pipes into the rectal relief tubes of young boys (and of each other) !!! They brag and crow loudly about their filthy behavior !!! They demand access to our young and innocent children... so they can commit sodomy and oral sex acts upon them!!! Then they scream and holler...

"Homophobe"

... when we seek to save our children from their filthy and immoral activities!!! WHY IS THIS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE IN THIS ONCE-FREE REPUBLIC ??? DO WE NOT HAVE THE RIGHT AND MORAL DUTY TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN FROM SLIME LIKE THIS ???

.

Stuff like this article have made my mind up that if I ever have children (I'm 23) that they will attend a private institution or be home schooled if possible.

But most importantly, Trice is forgetting one crucial fact: not only will some children at Lab grow up to be gay themselves, but some children who attend Lab have parents who are lesbian or gay. I don't know where Trice's child goes, but it is likely that her second grader also knows children who come from gay families....

The number of children with gay and lesbian parents is rising as more gays and lesbians take the mother (and father) road; and as more and more children of gay parents spread through the school system, straight parents will need to face the reality that their child's best friend may well have two mommies or two daddies."

She's not exaggerating TOOO much.
