Thought about you this weekend and those handsome sons and the precious grandson! That grandson is wrapping us all around his pinkie finger! He is doing well and seems to understand that Daddy is going to work against the bad guys. He has said that he wants to go help.

I have no doubt that he will!
When I first arrived in Fayetteville Friday, one of the first people that I met was a mom and dad whose son had just gotten back from Iraq the night before! They didn't know what was going to be taking place the next so I told them - they were appalled that there were people like that around.

When I deployed last year, I explained to my six year old son that I was going to fight the bad guys, and we'd talked about it before. He loves to be on base and watch all the guys doing their "stuff".
He looked up at me and said "daddy?"
I said "what is it, big guy?"
He answered, and I quote "Are you sure you're going to be okay there without me to watch your back?" (he's heard me say over and over I've got your back.)
So, this is the answer to how to make a Ranger cry, and also reaffirms why I do what I do.
Thanks for everybody that showed up, it was a great time.
