I would say it's likely he did die instantly - he may have had a last few seconds of terror when the occupants of the car saw the Israeli helicopter coming for them - but once the rocket hit, it was probably all over in milliseconds.

No time for the brain to register pain.

However... Where he is right now, and where he will be for all the rest of eternity, I am sure he is in plenty of excruciating agony...

(IsraelNN.com) Officials in the PA are reporting at least twenty persons were injured in the early morning IDF counter-terrorism surgical strike in Gaza. As reported earlier, Hamas leader Ahmed Yassin has been eliminated. Two air-two-surface rockets were fired at Yassin’s vehicle. A number of his bodyguards and his son were injured in the attack, along with others.

You know I made the comment before I saw the photos, yes, by the grace of almighty God, Israel greased him good and he is now in fact nothing but a bloody splotch on the ground.

Israel and the rest of the free world rejoices over the death of this wicked man (and I along with them). The tragedy in all of this is this man, along with his body guards are now in hell. No sexual paradise with 72 virgins to have eternal sex with, only pain, flames and unending torment until they appear before the Great White Throne Judgment where they, because they have not believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ, will be cast into the Lake of Fire to suffer the torment of flames forever and ever.

I do not rejoice at that outcome but they made their choice, they sought to destroy Israel, the "apple of God's eye" and justice has been served.

I just flipped in on CNN Intl for a second and the very depressed-looking anchorwoman asked "why would Israel do this when the Sheik was considered a moderate figure by many in the world?"

TEL AVIV, Israel, Mar 21, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Israel helicopters Monday killed Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmad Yassin in a predawn missile attack that hit his car, also killing two of his bodyguards, in Gaza.

The killing of such a high-profile Hamas leader, who often said he was not afraid to die, appeared to immediately roil the always turbulent situation in Gaza with perhaps much more to come. [snip]
