NEW YORK (CNN) -- John Kerry's combat experience in Vietnam is central to his bid to become the next commander-in-chief, but Kerry's outspoken opposition to that war drew the personal attention of the president of the United States and FBI agents 33 years ago, documents reviewed by CNN reveal.

Anyone know if CNN is putting this story on the air?
To: Oldeconomybuyer
That means Hillary! has his file.

No idea, but the Washington Post is running with it. I liked NRO's
Tim Graham's reply:
The WashPost reports today that radical left war protester John Kerry (okay, they didn't use the "radical left" part) and his Vietnam Veterans Against the War were monitored by the FBI, relying on documents from California author Gerald Nicosia. (Laura Blumenfeld and Dan Balz then go to liberal historian/Kerry flack Doug Brinkley on how Nixonites saw Kerry as a "young demagogue." If you saw Kerry's 1971 Senate testimony on C-SPAN Sunday night, you'd say that's about right.) But for another look at what Nicosia is saying about Kerry, see how Marc Morano of CNSNews.com reports it. Nicosia says Kerry is lying about what he did and said in 1971 as he decided to split from the VVAW. Nicosia provides documents for that, too. Nicosia also suggests Kerry could be lying when he denies being present when VVAW members met in Kansas City in November 1971 "to discuss the possibility of assassinating U.S. senators still committed to the Vietnam War." Wouldn't that make FBI surveillance sound like a decent idea?

The FBI was simply doing its job. Traitors need to be watched.

Saw a segement on it this morning before 6 am EST. It was designed to make Nixon look bad, and Kerry look like a victim.

The liberal spin on this will be like that of the Judicial Committee memoleak.
Per the liberal media,
that the memo got leaked is more significant than the contents of the memo
that the FBI surveilled Kerry is more significant than what Kerry was doing to cause the FBI to surveil him.

WBZ radio in Boston had an interview with Kerry this morning where he went on about protecting our civil rights. Gag! The FBI would be remiss in their duties if they didn't keep an eye on any group that discussed assassinating US Senators. Of course the Boston stooge didn't ask that question.

That's the standard M.O.

The media is trying to make Kerry appear a victim, as you have said, and it will BACKFIRE...the average American will believe that there had to be a reason, and will start to ask, "But why did they keep an eye on him?"
They will come to know that if a person belongs to an organization that PLOTS to KILL United States Senators, then the FBI just might keep an eye on them.
To: Impeach the Boy
I suspect more likely the media will never really out the plot story. And, you must remember, most Americans think Nixon was a pinhead.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
"They really believed that these veterans were going to come to Washington with rifles and armaments and create a coup, storm the White House, kill the president, take over the government," Nicosia says. Given that they debating assassinating US Senators in Kansas City, it would seem that the belief was reasonable. And note how now that Kerry is shown to have been at the meeting, the discussion on assassination of Senators becomes something informal, done before the meeting, that Kerry can't remember.
To: anniegetyourgun
Of course the MEDIA is not going to out the plot story...it will be outed by other scources and the media will be forced at some point....

PUFF PIECE................
Just wait Kerry will turn his being followed by the FBI 30yrs ago into something against the PATRIOT ACT and HLS.

Someone yesterday posted a listing of all the media who attended a meeting with JFKerry in December.
I didn't bookmark it.
I'm almost sure CNN had a rep at the meeting. Most of the liberal media had reps there.
If someone has the list, maybe they can post it again. It would be interesting to see which media spin Kerry positive and also appear on that list.

You can tell that Phil Hirschkorn is just simply
breathless. You can almost see him touching his chest as he compares
Kerry to...well...
Kennedy! I mean...
CNN is so predictable.
The emesis basin--and hurry.

"The FBI would be remiss in their duties if they didn't keep an eye on any group that discussed assassinating US Senators."
And even more than that, these groups were being manipulated and used by the KGB. Someone in the FBI was certainly doing the right thing.

"They really believed that these veterans were going to come to Washington with rifles and armaments and create a coup, storm the White House, kill the president, take over the government"I guess they decided that patience would pay off. With enough time, planning, and help, notably from the Newsmedia, academia, celebrities, and other sympathizers, they could create a coup and take over the government without resort to the rest. Maybe they will suceed yet.
Kinda reminds you of the Islamonazis, patiently waiting 500 years for the right time to reconquer Spain.
