Regarding some of the comments about living standard in New Hampshire ... check out what one of the least big-gov states in the U.S. rates as:

On the east coast, South Carolina is as far north as I can handle winter.

You can't handle winter at all then. South Carolina doesn't have a winter. Does it snow in South Carolina at least once a year. Green Christmases? It may not even have much of a Fall or Spring.
Would you at least consider the hills of Western Virginia (not West Virginia but Western Virginia)?
