MONMOUTH, Ore. — The American Red Cross may soon be banned from holding blood drives on one university campus because the organization prohibits some gay men from donating blood.

"We're looking at the practices of the Red Cross — whether they are discriminatory, and if they are, how it relates back to our policy," said Gary Dukes, vice president of student affairs at Western Oregon University.

So given the choice... liberals have now choosen to let people DIE rather than offend the feeeeeeeeeeeelings of some gays.

These people are utterly, completely and suicidally INSANE. Period. End of discussion.

From later in the Fox News article:The FDA did recently look at possibly changing, or even dropping, the question about gay sex. But an advisory committee said doing that would risk putting blood recipients in danger of contracting the deadly AIDS virus.

The dirty little secret about socialized medicine is that if the procedure is too expensive or difficult to obtain because of shortages the patient will be told there is no cure for his problem and will be sent home to prepare his estate (happened to my cousin in Canada - he ended up flying to the US, having surgery here, and surviving another 8 years). /end thread hijack.

Absolutely correct! Gay men in particular are very high risk blood donation candidates not only is there risk for transmission of HIV, there is also risk of transmitting Hepatitis B and /or C, HPV….. Any individual who engages in high risk sexual activity (multiple partners) is a poor blood donor candidate!

Accepting donated blood from such a statistically at-risk group is bad policy. Of course, without a polygraph at blood drives they are assuming people are answering the questions truthfully.

Trust but verify with screening of the blood.
