Documentary to show lives changed by film ("The Passion of the Christ")

A new documentary is in the works to prove Mel Gibson's film "The Passion of the Christ" has produced miracles in the lives of its viewers.

Makers of "Changed Lives: Miracles of the Passion" say they have interviews with people who claim the controversial film has changed them, reports MSNBC columnist Jeannette Walls.

They want more people for the documentary and ask on a website for stories of "miracles" such as "a marriage being rescued, an addict who was set free, a Jew who now accepts Jesus as Messiah, someone who experienced physical or emotional healing, and so on."

Executive Producer Jody Eldred told MSNBC's "The Scoop" column, "We have gone to websites where there are in excess of 70,000 stories about how people were touched by this film, so we have plenty to choose from."

He said the documentary has no affiliation with Mel Gibson's Icon Productions, but he has been working closely with Icon.

"They've seen the trailer," he said. "They think it's a cool thing. We have their blessings."

According to news reports Thursday, a Texas man confessed to a murder after seeing "The Passion of the Christ."

Dan R. Leach said his experience viewing the film along with a discussion with a friend prompted him to admit he killed Ashley Nicole Wilson in January, after the death had been ruled a suicide.

Leach's apparent motive in the slaying near Houston was that he believed Wilson was carrying his child, and he did not want to raise it.

Earlier this month in Florida, a fugitive from a bank robbery two years ago said he turned himself in to police after watching Gibson's film.

Wow. This must really kill the left. Not only are anti jewish mobs NOT roaming the streets, but the movie is actually saving lives.

This movie might be the great spiritual awakening of our century.

Hmmm......nice idea, but I don't suppose they'll be mentioning the people who died during or after watching the movie.

The Passion has turned hearts.

One of my colleagues whom I work with is attending Mass again on a regular basis after seeing the movie.

We've talked about the movie (Before its release) over the past few months.

It has had made a difference in her life.

I don't know about bizarre.
It was the first thing that came to mind. There have been several reports of people dying and/or suffering heart attacks during or shortly after seeing the movie. There was a report a couple days ago. Certainly those people's lives and the lives of their families have been changed. I've wondered how many lawsuits would be brought against Gibson.
Perhaps a bit eccentric.

Are you suggesting that Mel Gibson is responsible for these deaths?

I am a paramedic. People die all the time. Even in movie theaters. I've worked several arrests in movie theaters over the course of my career.

Once during a Disney movie.

No. I'm Not suggesting that. People make a choice to go to the movies.
But there's plenty of lawyers who'd like to get their hands on a nice settlement.

Houston was that he believed Wilson was carrying his child, and he did not want to raise it.

I hope he realizes he murdered 2 people

A Norwegian neo-Nazi has confessed to two bombings a decade ago against Anarchists because of this film. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/040329/325/eprjw.html

(FYI nuconvert, no word yet on whether lawyers for the anarchists there will be able to get a big settlement against Icon either. /sarcasm)

And people would never have thought of suing a restaurant after spilling hot coffee on themselves, either.

It ain't the good ole days, anymore.
