Listen To Howard Stern's Interview With Al Franken
Description of interview compliments of Marksfriggin.com
"Al Franken Comes In. 03/30/04. 8:40am Howard came back from break and brought Al Franken in. He said he's a fan of Al's even though in the first page of his book, ''Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right,'' he insults him. Al came in and Howard said he looked like he'd just gotten out of bed.
Al said he starts his own radio show tomorrow at noon. He will be doing a 3 hour show then. Howard told Al that it will be tough to do a liberal radio show but he will succeed because he's funny. Howard told him that the stuff he does is funny and he's good at it. Al said they're going to call the show ''The O'Franken Factor'' as a goof on the Bill O'Reilly show.
Al told Howard that the sales of his book spiked the day that Howard talked about how much he liked it. Bill O'Reilly said that he doesn't call people liars but he obviously hadn't seen his own show. Al told Howard how he did research on Bill and found things that proved he was a liar. He found out that Bill lied about his show ''Inside Edition'' getting a couple of Peabody awards. He did some research on that and found that he never did. It turns out that the show didn't win a Peabody, it was a Polk award and the award wasn't won when he was working on the show. Al said that Bill didn't win anything. He went on to tell Howard about how Bill challenged him to come after him after he was confronted about that stuff.
Al told Howard that Bill has also claimed that no one grew up poorer than his family did. Al said that he grew up in a middle class family. He has worked hard to get where he is but his family wasn't that poor. Howard said he also went to private school.
Howard talked to Al about how his book and his thoughts on the Republicans and Democrats. Howard said that someone like Rush Limbaugh is always agreeing with what the Republican Party does and says. He said it would be more interesting if he disagreed with the President once in a while.
Al told Howard that he's going to read his live commercials as Rush Limbaugh. He did a quick impression of Rush for Howard and it was pretty funny. Al went on to tell Howard about some of the stations he's going to be on around the country to start off the show.
Al told Howard about being sued by Bill O'Reilly and how that all came about. He ended up winning in court after O'Reilly tried to sue him about something that was in one of his books. Howard wondered why Al insulted him in the beginning of the book. Al said that it was a joke and it was just his dumb style of writing.
Howard told Al about this guy Scott DePace who works for E! and how he gets all of his stuff from Rush Limbaugh. He said that Scott was out in the halls yelling about how drilling for oil up in Alaska is good for the wildlife up there. Scott was saying that we should drill there because it's a place that he will never see unlike a state like Texas. Al said that the administration only knows about oil even though George Bush wasn't able to find oil in Texas. Al and Scott argued about a few things for a couple of minutes. Howard read some other things that Scott has said about the economy and other stuff and let Al debate him on that stuff.
Howard told Al that he sounds ready for his radio show. He then took a phone call from a guy who said that Al has a coke problem and he's goofing on Rush about his drug use. The caller was really belligerent so Howard had to hand up on him and let Al answer the question. Al said that back in the 70's he was working for Saturday Night Live and he may have had to use drugs just so he could stay up long enough to make sure that the other people he was working with didn't do too much coke.
Howard and Al talked about President Bush serving for the National Guard during the Viet Nam war and how he managed to get out of that. They also talked about John Kerry and how he got the Silver Star back in the Viet Nam war. Scott was saying that John Kerry hasn't supported the Military since then in his voting but that wasn't exactly true either. Al explained to Scott how Kerry has voted about some stuff and why he did it. They talked about a lot of what went on with the Iraq war as well.
Robin said that Al beat Scott on every argument and he still insisted on arguing. Howard yelled at Scott for a minute and then wrapped up the interview with Al. He gave him a plug for his radio show and said you can find out more about that at AirAmericaRadio.com. Howard went to commercial break right after that."

Basing your whole schtick on making fun ofyour vastly more successful competitors seems like a pretty no-go strategy for building an audience beyond the smallest of levels.
But what do I know?

Franken can't go 2 sentences w/o invoking O'Reilly or Rush. He is just trying to harnest the hate for them without saying what he believes.
To: BillyJack
Al said that he grew up in a middle class family. He has worked hard to get where he is but his family wasn't that poor. Bull....
According to his bio, Al grew up in Minneapolis, but went to school at Harvard.
Most 'middle class' families cannot afford to send their kids to Harvard.
My brother scored in the top 1% for Pre-Law and had the grades to go to Harvard, but my 'middle class' family could NOT afford to send him to Harvard.
Why do wealthy liberals like to portray themselves as 'middle class'?

What? You consider living in your mom's basement and maintaining a daily blog of some infantile DJ's self absorbed histrionics, repetitive interviews with strippers, and humiliating contests a waste of energy? Then what, pray tell, do you consider a constructive use of time? /sarcasm

I believe Al "I'm-not-as-funny-as-I-think-I-am" Franken was referring to O'Reilly, not himself.

Hell, the majority of Boston believes that they are middle class and those poor starving kids in the bay area at Berkley, and Stanford. Its unpopular to be liberal and rich, but ask yourself this question, where does most of the wealth in this country congregate, LA, NY Skokie Il, Long Island, and the Boston area, oh I forgot Miami, West Palm. Chart the voting ternds of these areas. I used to live in West Hartford, full of bleeding Hearts, but dont get in their way as they drive in their Mercedes SUV to the trendy shops, to spend their loads of cash- hey but they have a deep social conscious- as long as they have what they want

Its unpopular to be liberal and rich,
In my third year of college, out of necessity, I shared an apartment with an old high school pal who had become a commie activist type. He and his buddies did their best to pretend they were from the "lower classes" and didn't have comfortably middle class backgrounds. It was quite amusing when he would accuse me of being a child of privilege, considering we came from the same middle class subdivision, because my folks had a slightly larger house than his and my old beater was a couple of years newer than his old beater (which his family gave him for free).
To: HP8753
Imhotep Gary Byrd is a big foaming at the mouth loon. The reason why WLIB talk format started tanking is because no one was listening to the talk anymore. I just listened for the West Indian music and talk shows, and the cricket games and scores during the weekend. I'm glad AA radio is getting bashed from the uber-left wing WBAI though.

It was one of the returns from a google search.
I thought it an interesting perspective from a mainly RAT constituency.

On second thought, at $27,500 per incident, make sure they don't interfere with the leftie maggots' freedom of speech. They'll be out of business from fines in about 3 days.

He said it would be more interesting if he disagreed with the President once in a while. Another example of what an idiot Stern is. Rush is anything but a shill for the Republican party, and he is a far more effective critic of Republicans in Congress and the White House than any liberal scumbag pundit out there.
