There is a perception lingering about NewtGingrich that he was a critic of PaulRyan's budget plan and therefore a critic of conservative fiscal policy in the House of Representatives. Is that conclusion true? Or is it an oversimplification? Like many misconceptions floating around during a heated political season, it is not true. Let's examine the facts. On April 5, 2011, Representative PaulRyan, the HouseBudgetCommittee chairman, introduced the Republican budget for 2012. Included in that budget was a premium support model for Medicare. This budget was based on a similar plan previously laid out by Ryan called TheRoadmapforAmerica'sFuture. That document had...

RUSH: I want to move on to this Dick Morris business and the attack on the Catholic Church last week by Obama. I want to ask you, if you remember back in January there was a presidential debate, a Republican debate in Manchester. Do you remember -- 'cause this is a setup for what's coming -- do you remember, we were all perplexed here. George Stephanopoulos kept hounding Romney on contraception. It had not come up, nobody had said anything about it, and we were all confused, as was Romney, what the deal was. Well, it is Dick Morris' theorem...

A strong case could be made that Rick Santorum owes much of the credit for his recent surge to Rush Limbaugh -- whether Rush wants that credit or not. Events of this past week seem to indicate that Senator Santorum would concur. In the past few days his campaign has wisely exploited some of Rush's words and they are proudly featuring them everywhere. The implication -- if not the explicit language -- is that Rush prefers Santorum to either Newt or Mitt. And beyond doubt, there are a couple of show segments which could fairly be interpreted just that way....

That is the prime midday slot long dominated by Rush Limbaugh, syndicated by Premiere Networks. The New York Times reports that Cumulus Media is lining up affiliates now for an April 2 launch of former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. This new long-form deal expands on the current relationship that produces the daily vignettes named "The Huckabee Report." Former Arkansas governor Huckabee began doing radio in his teens and worked on the air during his college years. Would he run for president again? Huckabee tells the Times "If, a few years down the road, I see an opening, I don't...

Folks, let me tell you something. Don’t be surprised if the regime reverses this. I’ve heard that they’re rethinking it, that Obama might be rethinking this ban that he’s put in effect on the Catholic church and the schools and so forth. And it could be true. It could be true. I mean even Muslim clerics have come out against this decision. If Muslim clerics have come out against this decision, then Obama will hear that, much more than he’ll hear Catholics being upset about it. ~ Rush Limbaugh weighing in on the controversy surrounding the contraception mandate in the...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: In these next two we have Trump. This was this morning on CNN's Early Start with Ashleigh Banfield. And they played a section or a portion of Santorum, I believe. Regardless, they were talking about Santorum and his victory speech last night. And this is what Trump had to say... TRUMP: Rick Santorum was a sitting Senator who in reelection lost by 19 points. To my knowledge, the most in the history of this country for sitting Senator to lose by 19 points. It's unheard of. Then he goes out and it says, "Oh, okay. I just...

Rush Limbaugh mocked the Republican establishment on his radio show Wednesday for being “shocked” by Rick Santorum’s three-state win, saying, “I can’t believe how insulated they are.” “They’re literally shocked. The Republican establishment had no idea this was percolating out there. I can’t believe how insulated they are,” Limbaugh said. “To look at the reaction they’re having today, to see how shocked they are that Rick Santorum has come out of what they thought was an impossible position equivalent to nowhere, is an incredible thing.” The “drive-bys” – a term that Limbaugh has coined for the media – have been...

If I had a nickel for every time I had to go toe to toe with a liberal over the minimum wage, or came across literature petitioning my representatives to raise it, I'd almost be able to balance the budget. The late great economist Milton Friedman has said it, Thomas Sowell and Walter E. Williams has said it: The minimum wage destroys jobs and slows the economy. And now El Rushbo is saying it. Because it's true. Everything you need to know about the minimum wage is right here in these 13 minutes. School is open and the professor is in.Some gems to listen...

An Open Letter to Rush Limbaugh: Please Hold the Cocktail Party Establishment Responsible For What Happens in November Posted on February 1, 2012 by Kevin DuJan // Best of Hillbuzz, Featured Content Dear Mr. Limbaugh, It’s clear to anyone who listens to your show or follows politics online that the Cocktail Party GOP establishment has been pushing Willard “Mittens” Romney(care) towards the Republican 2012 presidential nomination since the day after John McCain was defeated by Barack Obama in 2008. You’ve talked about this in the past — that Republicans seem to keep nominating the man the Cocktail Party establishment thinks...

So it must have been Tuesday, because on Monday I got the e-mail from Jonathan Martin at Politico. Jonathan Martin sent me a note last night, "Look, you understand this Florida 'cracker' stuff. I mean, that's what people up there call...

As a longtime fan and admirer of Rush Limbaugh, I was disappointed to hear his comments regarding the work of the Congressional Redistricting Subcommittee on which I am honored to serve. His suggestions that we “rigged” the maps to force Allen West out of Congress are simply ludicrous. I was there…it didn’t happen…I know. It is especially surprising to see Mr. Limbaugh join with the chorus of left wing groups that are attacking our work. I can only presume that Mr. Limbaugh’s lack of knowledge of our process, laws and constitution would lead him to make such statements and would...

Romney will not distance himself from RomneyCare. Here's why: Romney wants to impose RomneyCare on all 50 states!! That is absolutely correct. He's already recruited Florida's Attorney General Pam Bondi as his healthcare czar to get it done. Romney claims that he wants to repeal ObamaCare, but he's already lined up Pam Bondi to head up his national healthcare task force to push RomneyCare on all 50 states. After all that has been said and written about socialized healthcare and individual mandates, Romney and Bondi, still LOVE RomneyCare and should he become president will attempt to impose it on ALL...

Ronald Reagan’s eldest son Mike Reagan has issued a statement lambasting Mitt Romney and his supporters for claims that Romney’s Republican presidential rival Newt Gingrich was a strong critic of President Reagan. Reagan says such claims are false. Even Rush Limbaugh, shocked by the Romney claims, chimed on his Thursday radio broadcast to say "This is obviously a coordinated attack to take Newt out here in Florida." Rush slammed the Romney-backed smear campaign against Newt. “That kind of stuff is why people hate Romney so much," Limbaugh said. Limbaugh added that Newt has always been a conservative from his early...

Drudge versus history Posted by William A. Jacobson Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 9:31am Politico’s homepage top headline is The right drops a bomb on Newt featuring photos of Ann Coulter, Tom DeLay, Elliot Abrams and Matt Drudge.Just like in December, the rise of Newt has caused panic in Republican circles. In December the charge was led by National Review, and now it’s being led by Matt Drudge, as reflected in this image from Marooned in Marin: For several days Drudge has been running almost around-the-clock negative banners against Newt, hyping negatives and burying news which contradicts the Romney campaign narrative that Newt was anti-Reagan.Against...

COMMENTARY | The latest attack against Newt Gingrich accuses him of the worst thing a Republican can be. Apparently, despite his assertion that he was a loyal lieutenant to President Ronald Reagan, Gingrich was "insulting" to Reagan on a number of occasions. Leading the charge on the theme of "Gingrich was an enemy of Reagan" is Elliott Abrams, who was an assistant secretary of state in the Reagan administration. .. To be sure, the speech seems off-putting considering subsequent events, such as the fall of the Soviet Empire. But was Gingrich really an enemy of Reagan? William Jacobson at Legal...

I like Elliott Abrams. Big time. But…gee. Elliott…Elliott…Elliott. Mr. Abrams is in the news for this piece over at National Review Online Sounds saleable, yes? Ex-Reagan State Department aide cites Newt criticism on Reagan. There's a problem with this story. [Snip] Never… not once… did Elliott Abrams ever say to me something along the lines of "that SOB Newt said X." Never. As Ronald Reagan used to say: Well. Yesterday we took note of former Reagan State Department official Elliott Abrams' piece over at NRO that went after Newt Gingrich on his relationship with Reagan. While voting regularly with Reagan as a young congressman from Georgia, Gingrich, claimed Abrams, "often spewed insulting rhetoric at Reagan, his top aides and his policies to defeat Communism." Abrams then goes on to cite " a famous floor statement Gingrich made on March 21, 1986." Or sort of cites it. In fact, I'm sorry to say, what appears to be going on here is that Elliott...

Holy cow. Powerful start to Rush's show today. - Disclaimer: this information is provided as an imprecise, recollection second-hand of statements on Rush Limbaugh's broadcast this morning. No claim of accuracy is made, do your own due diligence please. - Yesterday, one of the most damning statements (as far as Newt's perspective would be) Rush made, as he was attempting on-air to make sense of the blizzard of Newt-hate yesterday from Drudge et al, was his thoughts about a rather nasty article by Elliot Abrams. The article claimed Newt Gingrich opposed Reagan's foreign policy toward the evil empire. Rush clearly...

After enduring tons of lies and half-truths from Romney's spin maching, Newt Gingrich finally cleared the air this week to establish himself as the heir of Ronald Reagan's Conservative Principles and Actions. The coup de grace was Nancy Reagan's direct quote saying that Ronald Reagan passed the Torch of Conservatism to Newt Gingrich. Also, Rush Limbaugh clearly stated that Newt was a Central Figure in the Reagan Revolution. Sarah Palin said the Newt was being crucified unfairly by the press and others. She means that the American people are being saturated with lies and half truths about Newt by the...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: There's one thing I'm gonna start focusing on here. Romney in the debate last night said all of this talk about health care is not worth getting angry about. And, yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is. It is worth getting angry about. It is worth being angry about, and it's worth staying angry about. There was a great exchange between Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney on this and Romney got a little flustered because Santorum had his best night. They're out there saying Santorum won the debate. Does that mean he's the nominee? Well, that's how we've...

"This was a mass of confusion, hypocrisies, lies, and distortions, and a failed attempt by a failed president to attach himself to America's greatness when he wouldn't recognize it if it slapped him upside the head!" On his Monday radio show, Rush Limbaugh advised former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to stop using his hobbyhorse to rip on the media publicly, although many have credited the tactic for his win in the South Carolina primary. “This presents a huge stumbling block potential for Newt,” Limbaugh said. “He is vulnerable on the very thing he can do better than anybody else. He had better fully embrace his conservatism and not make it a part-time thing. The days of being able to keep this momentum going by ripping on the media are over. The standing ovations for taking on...

Newt Gingrich won the South Carolina primary, 40 percent to 28 percent, over Mitt Romney. He also won every Congressional district and, in doing so, won all of South Carolina’s 25 delegates. Momentum versus organization Newt Gingrich will come into Florida with momentum, gained from winning South Carolina’s primary, which every Republican presidential nominee has won since 1980. But Romney has a head start in Florida. He has hundreds of thousands of absentee...

Newt Gingrich, who's tried to contain damage from sordid claims his second wife Marianne Gingrich over the last 24 hours, was bolstered on conservative talk radio earlier today by Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin. Fifty percent of the country has been divorced. I don't know...You have to think with Values Voters, yeah. Got any Values Voters? ...Well, they knew that Newt was divorced.
