U.S. a Nation Divided: the Wimps and the Warriors, Senator Says The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Sept. 11 commission's public quarrels with the Bush administration could "energize our enemies and demoralize our troops," Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga., said Tuesday. In a speech on the Senate floor, Miller, the Senate's lone Democrat to endorse Bush for re-election, also denounced former Bush counterterrorism adviser Richard Clarke, who has criticized the president as being slow to act against the al-Qaida terrorist network.
"The vindictive Clarke has now had his revenge, but what kind of hell has he, his CBS publisher, and his ax-to-grind advocates unleashed?" Miller said.
Miller has backed Bush on practically every major foreign and domestic initiative. He said if there were intelligence breakdowns, Clarke was most to blame because he was in the "catbird seat" for a decade.
"It's obvious to me that this country is rapidly dividing itself into two camps - the wimps and the warriors," Miller said. "The ones who want to argue and assess and appease, and the ones who want to carry this fight to our enemies and kill them before they kill us."

I wonder what Joe Lieberman may say? He might take a somewhat dim view of this crap. It could be interesting if another Democrat speaks up.

If I am with the warriors then I am in good company. There is a pastor who has visited our church on occasion and his witness is based on Dulcinea, and how, at the end of her life she wanted to be viewed throgh Don Qixote's eyes. Not as she was, but as she wished to be, and as she could only be seen through the eyes of people with a dream...

The Sept. 11 commission's public quarrels with the Bush administration could "energize our enemies and demoralize our troops..."In the Liberal mind, that would be a triple victory: Beat Bush; energize America's enemies; and demoralize our troops. No downside!

Remember when pro-defense Democrats weren't such an endangered species? Scoop Jackson, Sam Nunn, John Stennis and a lot of great patriots once had a "D" after their names. Sadly, Zell is the among the last of them.

With the occasional exception, I'd say the Warrior contingent is well-represented here at Free Republic.

Very poetic, Dutchgirl. You are correct, in that, inspiration and vision can turn dross into gold. And self-interest and creeping death leads only to the grave.
To: Sub-Driver
wimps and warriors, only Zell can say such things and resonate.
Unleash Zell in all the states south of mason dixon, Bush will carry them all...

Scoop Jackson and Sam Nunn consistently voted against the 2nd Amendment. Zell Miller is an awesome warrior for our side, but don't lump him in wit those "sunshine" patriots.
