In the wake of nObama's surrender to the UN, I thought today would be a good day to re-post this:

Several months ago, Democrat Senator Zell Miller (more like a Republican) was speaking at a event, and he said that Rham Emanuel needs to put gorilla glue on the Presidents chair, to keep him from flying all over the world at taxpayer expense. I loved the humor, and heard no racism, unlike our ideological counterparts.......who see racism in everything.

(AP) Below is the text of Sen. Zell Miller's keynote speech as prepared for delivery at the Republican National Convention: Since I last stood in this spot, a whole new generation of the Miller Family has been born: Four great grandchildren. Along with all the other members of our close-knit family, they are my and Shirley's most precious possessions. And I know that's how you feel about your family also. Like you, I think of their future, the promises and the perils they will face. Like you, I believe that the next four years will determine what kind of world...

Zell Miller: Buy "Gorilla Glue" for Obama Former Democrat and former Georgia Gov./Sen. Zell Miller hit the racial tripwire in blasting Barack Obama in a speech to a gathering of lawmakers on Thursday. Speaking in Atlanta, Miller, a 76-year-old white Southerner with a penchant for the folksy put-down, was railing against the White House in general — and Obama's recent travels to Europe, the Middle East and Mexico in particular. The AP: Our globe-trotting president needs to stop and take a break and quit gallivanting around," Miller said, adding that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel needs to put...

"Decrying a federal government he says is out of control, former Georgia Gov. and U.S. Sen. Zell Miller said Thursday that America is “spending like we’re Paris Hilton.” But the comparison to the blonde socialite might not be the worst offense in Miller’s litany of all that’s wrong with the country. Speaking to more than 1,000 conservative - overwhelmingly Republican - lawmakers from around the country, Miller said, “Today, we’re spending like we’re Paris Hilton, regulating like we’re Ralph Nader, nationalizing like we’re Hugo Chavez, printing money like we’re the Weimar Republic and taxing like we’re, well, the Democratic Congress.”

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Georgia's maverick Democrat Zell Miller threw his support behind Sen. Saxby Chambliss saying he "could well be the last man standing between a far, far left liberal agenda sailing through the Senate." A former Georgia senator and governor, Miller remains a Democrat but has lined up behind prominent Georgia Republicans in recent years. Chambliss is locked in a Dec. 2 U.S. Senate runoff with Democrat Jim Martin. The race could help decide whether Democrats win enough seats to block Republican filibusters. Martin on Wednesday picked up a law enforcement endorsement and scolded Chambliss for attacking his crime...

Here is video of former Georgia Democratic Senator and Governor Zell Miller endorsing Republican Saxby Chambliss over Democrat Jim Martin in the U.S. Senate runoff race in Georgia. Sen. Miller said he has served with both of the candidates in the race, and Saxby Chambliss is the best choice for America and for Georgia. Sen. Miller also said Chambliss could be the last line of defense to prevent the liberal Democratic agenda from being pushed through Congress. . . . (Watch Video)

The fellow synonymous with "Hardball" showed his soft side today. Interviewed by his wife to help mark the show's 10th anniversary and promote his new book, "Life's a Campaign,"Chris Matthews was frequently emotional as he talked about everything from his heroes [including JFK, Churchill and Hemingway], his drinking days and his admiration for John McCain's patriotism. In contrast, Kathleen Matthews, a former TV news anchor, exuded a composed professionalism. A nice, cool balance to Chris's fire, it seemed. Meanwhile, John Kerry reminded us of what, shall we say, we didn't necessarily love about the guy. At show's end, a montage...

Tribunals' critics will pay in next election By ZELL MILLER -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The howls of protest over the administration's efforts to treat terrorists like the war criminals they are is mind-boggling. The critics are crying foul at the mere mention of bringing suspected terrorists to justice in military tribunals. This obsession with protecting the rights of terrorists is naive and wrongheaded. And if you don't want to take my word for it, just wait -- voters will say it loud and clear in next year's elections. The critics forget a key fact: We are at war. Thousands of innocent citizens were ...

Controversial Former US Senator Names Abortion as Culprit in US Population Shortages “How could this great land of plenty produce too few people in the last 30 years?” Miller asks By Peter J. Smith MACON, Georgia, March 12, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Former US Senator Zell Miller blamed abortion as the reason why the United States faces shortages of military manpower, the impending collapse of its social security system, and depends on illegal immigration. The pro-life former Democrat appeared as the featured speaker for a fundraising banquet last Tuesday for the Sav-A-Life Care Center, which counsels women contemplating abortion. The...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Sen. Zell Miller, a Georgia Democrat who supported President Bush in 2004, will head a new group of Democrats supporting Pennsylvania GOP Sen. Rick Santorum's reelection bid. "I am not involved in any other race in the country," Miller said during a radio interview Monday, according to a news release from Santorum's campaign. "I am only doing this for Rick Santorum. I believe in Rick Santorum's leadership that much."

ATLANTA - Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Mark Taylor kept up a relentless assault on Gov. Sonny Perdue's ethics on Monday as a new statewide poll showed the lieutenant governor continuing to trail the Republican incumbent with just a week to go until election day. Taylor alleged that Perdue broke the law when he failed to disclose his apparent conflict of interest in 2004 as the state weighed whether to purchase a wildlife preserve in Houston County near his longtime home. The Oaky Woods preserve borders more than 100 acres of land now owned by Perdue. Perdue did not disclose that property...

LANCASTER - "Moral scurvy" is weakening America, retired U.S. senator Zell Miller said Friday at a fundraising dinner for Desert Christian Schools. "As a country we're dying and we don't even know it," he said. "We're drowning and we don't feel it." The majority of Miller's talk focussed on Christian faith and the role of Christians and Christian education in the life and welfare of America. "There's a war being fought," he said. "Not just the war in the Middle East - a war for our children's souls." "It has been said, if you want to change the world you...

I haven’t written my regular column for a long time, but my excuse is rock solid. I’ve been too busy to write Three absolutely extraordinary things happened in the last week – well, stretch that – a week and a half. One I’ll save for another column, because it deserves its own space and details need to be filled in. The others are election night on 2 May, and 4 - 8 May, which was spent in Bermuda. Start, of course, with politics. Going into the Republican primary against eight-term incumbent, Charles Taylor, I knew my own campaign was limited....

The sordid tale now making the rounds in the "mainstream" press of a rogue Pentagon intelligence operation has all the elements of an urban legend: heavy breathing, a secret basement office "down by the ramp" and government officials who form a hidden alliance based on long-ago ties to an obscure but influential university guru. Only the work of a few good men with the courage to face up to this "cabal" - and a few crusader-journalists to help them - can make the demons scatter and scare the dark ones into the light. Or so the story goes on those...

Okay, this REALLY annoyed me this past week when I read about it, and needed to get it off my chest, and I wanted to know what other people thought also. It sickens me that I used to like Alec Baldwin’s movies so much, especially, Hunt For Red October, now I can’t even watch it and haven’t for the past six years because he’s so vile and contemptible and liberal, three words which are synonyms in my book. His temper tantrum about Alito being confirmed and saying there are too many "chicken s**t democrats" and other vulgarities because they couldn’t...

Atlanta Right to Life March with Zell Miller

Thousands of anti-abortion advocates lined up outside the Capitol Monday and heard a remorseful former U.S. Sen. Zell Miller apologize for his tardiness in supporting their cause. "I'm more than one year late here. I'm several years late being here," said Miller, a former governor. "All those years you were out here, and I was in there," he said, pointing at the Gold Dome with a shake of his head. The demonstrators converge on the state Capitol each year on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the controversial Supreme Court decision that legalized abortions 33 years ago. Police said between...

Like most everyone here I loath the biased and negative manner in which the MSM reports the news from Iraq. I recently rediscovered an editorial Zell Miller had written back in October of 2004 describing what it would be like if TODAYS media had covered the battle of Iwo Jima in 1945. I don't see that this essay was ever posted to FR so what follows is Mr. Miller's insightful speculation ~ only now it is illustrated with actual images of this horrendous battle to win a foothold in the Pacific.

U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman told Iraq's prime minister Wednesday that U.S. forces will remain in Iraq until their mission is complete, despite growing unease in Congress about the progress of the conflict here. "We cannot let extremists and terrorists, a small number, here in Iraq deprive the 27 million Iraqis of what they want which is a better freer life, safer life for themselves and their children" Lieberman said after his meeting with Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari. The Connecticut Democrat, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said the cost of success in Iraq would be high "but the...

It's like a spy thriller. Institutional rivalries and political loyalties have fostered an intelligence officer's resentment against the government. Suddenly, an opportunity appears for the agent to undercut the national leadership. A vital question of intelligence forms the core justification for controversial military actions by the current leaders. If this agent can get in the middle of that question, distort that information and make it public, the agent might foster regime change in the upcoming election. But the rules on agents are clear. They can't purposely distort gathered intelligence, go public with secret information or use their position or information...

Hello! On his show today, Rush Limbaugh mentioned the latest column or editorial by Zell Miller. Can anybody tell me where to see the article? Rush mentioned that he read it just the other day. Thanks!

(italics/bold/< > mine) Zell Miller is my favorite Democrat. I started this long-running series here noting Miller's speeches, columns and books in March 2003. Yesterday the Atlanta Journal-Constitution published an important column by Senator Miller on the subject that is the current focus of my interest: "Rule can head off dirty tricks at CIA." The proposed rule is of less interest than Senator Miller's observation that the story underlying the saga of Joseph Wilson and Valerie Plame are the dirty tricks they have undertaken courtesy of the CIA to defeat the Bush administration. Within the journalistic trade, only Stephen Hayes...

After noticing errors in how Senators were rated by the American Conservative Union in 2003, I decided to look up the roll call votes for every item that the ACU had listed for that year. Senator by Senator, I made a list of how the ACU had listed their position on the items and compared them to the actual voting records. Zell Miller (D-GA), was the only Senator that they had properly listed the voting record on. The most glaring error was the vote to accelerate the repeal of the death/estate tax. Every Senator but Zell was rated incorrectly on...

Who will rock the youth vote? By Salena Zito, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Most analysts will concede that the Democratic Party's decline began the day it lost the middle class. With that traditional voting bloc gone, so went its low-hanging fruit -- genetically engineered youth who vote as their parents do. The Reagan Revolution was the bloodless coup credited with this middle class body-snatching. Reagan spoke with a clarity of purpose that won the hearts of Middle America and her young people. To the 20-something voters of that era, he began a relationship with the conservative cause that became a seminal moment...

After snubbing his Democratic Party to deliver the Republican keynote address for President Bush, former Georgia Sen. Zell Miller seemed a good bet for an ambassadorship, adviser post or maybe even a Cabinet office. On Tuesday, the White House revealed Miller's choice: a seat on the American Battle Monuments Commission. "I'm just an old man looking after cemeteries," Miller said in an interview Tuesday after President Bush tapped him for the job. Although Miller has retired from virtually all aspects of public life since leaving the Senate in January, he acknowledged letting Bush know of his interest in the commission...

MORE THAN TWO years ago, my good friend from Idaho, Larry Craig, introduced a bill in the US Senate to protect law-abiding firearms manufacturers and dealers from being held responsible for the criminal actions of third parties. Fifty-five of his fellow senators, myself included, joined Senator Craig in sponsoring this common-sense legislation. Ultimately, however, the bill went down to defeat because several unrelated gun-control amendments were attached to it. Now a new day has dawned, and with broad support, Senator Craig has reintroduced his bill -- S. 397, the ''Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act." Senators on both sides...

Zell Miller announced Wednesday that he plans to send a check for $112,956 plus interest to the state of Georgia to resolve a dust-up over how much money he got from the state treasury when he was governor. At issue was the $40,000-a-year allowance that the state gives its governors to offset entertainment and hospitality costs at the executive mansion. A recent report by Atlanta's WSB-TV accused the notoriously frugal Miller of pocketing more than $60,000 that he did not spend on entertaining legislators, business leaders and assorted dignitaries when he was Georgia's governor from 1991 to 1999. The practice...

Miller's Use of State Funds Questioned Mansion Allowance Under Scrutiny Dale Cardwell, Channel 2 Action News POSTED: 3:36 pm EDT July 8, 2005 ATLANTA -- Experts are voicing concerns about how and why former Gov. Zell Miller departed the Governor's Mansion with over $60,000 in taxpayer dollars. Every living Georgia governor, including Jimmy Carter, says they would not have kept the money or considered that it belongs to them. Miller is busy promoting his new book, "A Deficit in Decency."

Zell Miller, former Democratic Senator from Georgia, said that the United States is in a crisis of morality that could destroy the country. Miller served in the Senate four years, serving out the term of Senator Paul Coverdell, who died in July of 2000. He made his remarks on the Right Hour, an Internet radio program hosted by Paul M. Weyrich, CEO and Chairman of the Free Congress Foundation, where he discussed his new book, "A Deficit of Decency” and other national issues. "Recent generations have been more interested in giving their children the material things that they did not...

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — In 1999, former Georgia Gov. Zell Miller visited Alabama regularly to help Democratic Gov. Don Siegelman. Now he's coming back to help Republicans raise money to whip Democratic legislators. The Alabama Republican Majority Committee is holding a $250-per-person fundraising dinner June 24 in Birmingham with Miller as the featured speaker. Committee spokesman Leland Whaley said the group hopes to clear a six-figure sum to contribute toward its goal of having $6 million to help Republican legislative candidates in the 2006 elections. When asked about Miller's visit Friday, Siegelman said he didn't get concerned when Miller served...

I conducted an interview with Zell using questions from, Powerliine, Captains Quarters, polipundit etc. This is what he had to say on fillibuster: What is your stance on the Democrats' filibuster of judicial nominees and would you support the “Nuclear Option”? ZM: Absolutely, I'd support the "Nuclear Option." I would have supported it three years ago. In the language of the military, it's a "hill worth dying for," because if you don't stop this filibuster, you're never going to be able to get moderate judges, judges who will interpret the law rather than trying to make it. Beth at (My...

According to senate minority leader Harry Reid and his friends, democrats must block the constitutional appointment process in order to protect you from right-wing radical judges. They say they use the filibuster only in the most extreme situations, to block confirmation of extremely dangerous radicals to the bench for sake of all mankind. Heroes they are really, at least in their own minds… I can almost see their point too. Who would want some extreme right-wing wacko deciding justice in America? I mean, what if judges actually just stuck to the written law and constitution and applied them to cases...

Zell Miller says in the preface of "A Deficit of Decency" that his new book "is about the soul: the soul of our nation, the soul of western civilization, your soul, and my own." Unlike preceding generations of Americans, this is the first at risk of not leaving the nation better than did the previous one, he writes. "I have come to believe the reason is we have failed to acknowledge and discipline ourselves with the spiritual truths that made us great for these 200 years - faith, family, country, values." After four years in the Senate, monitoring the nation's...

There is good news from Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. I just spoke with public relations at the hospital, and they said that Zell Miller has been discharged. He gave us a scare last night when he was rushed to the hospital. They could give no more details, but I expect we will have them soon.

Mr. Chris Matthews Host, MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews 400 North Capitol Street, Suite 850 Washington, DC 20001 Dear Chris, We understand that you will be airing tonight on Hardball, the famous segment from the Republican National Convention in which former Senator Zell Miller challenged you to a duel. We are even more pleased that you will be playing it again tonight as it will be a...

Former Sen. Zell Miller (D-Ga.) had a beef with “Hardball” host Chris Matthews before he ever appeared on the show immediately after his fiery speech at the Republican National Convention last year. The famously disloyal Democrat reveals in his new book, A Deficit of Decency, that before telling Matthews he wished he could challenge him to a duel, he had long “detested” Matthews’s “know-it-all attitude and his bullying way of interviewing.” And earlier that evening, Matthews’s fellow MSNBC pundit Ron Reagan called Miller “kind of weird,” while Matthews himself had referred to Miller as an “old-time seggy,” meaning segregationist —...

In consecutive days last month, Alabama lost two legends from a disappearing movement — Southern Democrats powerful in Washington because of their party's majority and powerful back home because of their tendency to buck it. Look around Congress these days and you'll find few conservative Democrats in the mold of the late Sen. Howell Heflin or Rep. Tom Bevill. Those who remain are almost as likely to represent the Midwest or Great Plains as the once-solid South. According to Congressional Observer Publications, only one current member of the U.S. House voted against his party at least a third of the...
