Kerry's Other War Record
WSJ ^ | 3/29/04 | JOHN FUND

John Kerry mentions his service in Vietnam so frequently that it has become a running joke on the campaign press plane. He seldom if ever mentions his postwar activities as a national coordinator and principal spokesman for Vietnam Veterans Against the War, a group he says he quit in 1971 because he was concerned about its radical agenda. One reason may be that a credibility gap has started to widen over his antiwar history, and he clearly doesn't want to discuss it at length. His campaign is issuing misleading and evasive statements on his antiwar service in a way that would do the Pentagon spinners of the Johnson and Nixon administrations proud.

"If he quit after Kansas City, that means he clearly knew about this assassination plot against the senators and never went to the authorities."

Let's see, the elite media continually accuses Bush of lying about WMD's in Iraq, but
they say nothing about Kerry's false accounts of American soldiers murdering
civilians in VN.

That's real balanced. /sarc.

"The circumstantial evidence indicates that he is desperate to avoid discussion of those days."

Perhaps he and the Democrats should've thought about this before they decided to go after Bush's National Guard service...and demand little details like dental records. In legalese, Kerry opened the door...and I hope it hits him in the *ss on the way out.

You can bet that Tim Russert will run with this. He can be so tough.

"The question is: Did Kerry quit [VVAW] before Kansas City or did he quit after Kansas City?" Mr. Brinkley told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg. "If he quit after Kansas City, that means he clearly knew about this assassination plot against the senators and never went to the authorities."

And did he vote for it before he voted against it?

Kerry loves to play both sides. He fought in the Vietnam war AND he protested the Vietnam war.

He quit VVAW and he continued to speak for it.

Mr. Camil doesn't dispute the Nicosia book's accounts. "I'm sorry about those discussions now, but they did take place," he says. He says he doesn't remember Mr. Kerry attending the Kansas City meeting. He says he plans to accept an offer from Mr. Kerry's Florida campaign to become an active supporter and was invited to a meeting for the senator last week in Orlando, although the two did not meet face-to-face.

Seems to me that I have read of several instances in the past few weeks where someone from Kerry's past has been contacted by his campaign organization to come to work for them. Are these paying jobs? Is there a signing bonus? Enquiring minds want to know.

Actually, Kerry trotted out a veteran the other day to bash Bush.

Turns out the guy had been kicked out of the Republican party for his involvement in the KKK.

I wonder why the alphabets aren't running to make that front page news?
