why don't we just restrict travel to these other countries? We do it with Cuba..... Yeah, then we'll set up our own Berlin Wall and shoot Americans who try to escape to countries we don't like. Hey, East Germany did it....

No, the conservative view would be......you knew the rules ahead of time, you chose to break those rules, you need to live with the consequences. Oh that's right, the liberal left tells us that we are not responsible for our own actions, therefore, it must not be our own fault.

Great, now she can continue going thru life thinking that, if she doesn't get her way, she can use the court system to get what she wants. Sounds pretty liberal to me. No, it's liberal to ok a public school to have such far reaching authority. It's liberal to have a bloated bureaucracy. But if you want to live in a world where your school board gets to dictate what happens off of their property, have at it.

Oh that's right, the liberal left tells us that we are not responsible for our own actions, therefore, it must not be our own fault. The liberal left, and sadly, some of the more nanny statist on the right like to tell you that you are incapable of making good decisions for yourself, therefore, they will make rules to 'protect' you.
Telling an 18 year old adult that she cannot smoke anywhere at anytime is exactly that idea of "we know what is better for you."
It's for the children=It takes a village.

Oh that's right, the liberal left tells us that we are not responsible for our own actions, therefore, it must not be our own fault. And all rules are to be obeyed, no matter what?
My idea of "conservative" goes beyond mere "law and order" and "obeying the rules". It is broad enough to include fighting against rules and laws which are unjust or an imposition against our rights.

probably would have made her prom queen if she had an abortion

True, but they also reserve the right to decide who can attend their school after the age of 18. It was against regulations for me to drink while I was in one of my schools for the navy. I was 21 so I was legally old enough to drink however it was against policy for me to. so if I would have been caught drinking i would have been kicked out of the class. same situation, in ND smoking is not permitted for students according to the North Dakota High School Activities Commission. They dont say you cant smoke, you just cant smoke and participate in High School sponsored activities if you are caught.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one Doc.

I often wondered about this. Does this occur? Can you be prosecuted for engaging in legal activities in Amsterdam when you return home?
So far, it is primarily used for sex crimes, almost always in regards to child sex. Used to be some 'specialty' American travel agencies that organized tours, if you can believe it, for perverts to go to countries with lax child protection laws, so they could indulge themselves in child prostitution "legally".
Doesn't break my heart a bit that pervs get prosecuted, but it worries me about what else it opens the door to.
So far, I think you could go to Amsterdam for a 'doobie tour' and not be prosecuted, but I wouldn't swear to it.
As to the other question, I couldn't say.

Yes, but they prosecuted the Travel Agencies, or at least that is how I have read these stories. I have never heard of an individual that returned from another country being prosecuted for partaking in a legal activity in that country. If you know of any specifics, let me know.
That opens the door to my state prosecuting me because I took advantage of some legal activities in Vegas! Then we end up with Federal regulations by use of the "commerce clause", oh wait, we already got that one!

Look at it this way. The decision gives you the opportunity to follow another rule:)

Oh that's right, the liberal left tells us that we are not responsible for our own actions, therefore, it must not be our own fault. I do not see where this young lady said any such thing.
She did what any normal person would do when they felt a rule/law/ordinance/whatever was too far-reaching.........she challenged it.
I applaud her for doing so.

I know I harp on it, but it is what I know best.....the major opponents to the statewide smoking ban in Delaware were all Democrats. The major (lying) proponent for it in the Delaware house of representatives is a republican.....I've got no qualms referring to her as a liar here because I have done so not only to her face but in emails, snailmails and phone calls.........
I'm an adult - I will make my own decisions about how I wish to be "protected" and by who or what.

Great, now she can continue going thru life thinking that, if she doesn't get her way, she can use the court system to get what she wants. No. She's found out that, if you are in the right, and stick to your guns, you can beat City Hall,
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
