Democrats attempt to portray GWB as the worst President ever. This article exposes the erroneous portrayal with some interesting facts.

Link doesn't work. Why isn't it linked at the source as it should be?

You need to post the article, post a link that works, or ask for this post to be pulled.

The Worst President in History?
The following appeared in the Durham, NC local paper as a letter to the editor.

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They complain about his prosecution of it. One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst president in U.S. history. Let's clear up one point:

We didn't start the war on terror. Try to remember, it was started by terrorists BEFORE 9/11.
Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims. FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did.
From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333 per year.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us.
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.

Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions. In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. We lost 600 soldiers, an average of 30 a year. Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home. Worst president in history? Come on!

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation. And almost all in the compound were killed and they were Americans.
We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Teddy Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida

Worst President in History? Not by a long shot.

Do you know what oatmeal splatter does to a flat screen display? OMG, the whole essay is just so on point.

I formatted these 'bullets' in "Word" and enboldened/enlarged to fill a sheet of paper and will copy as many as I can and distribute what I can to a couple of truck stops in my area and a convenience store.

Talk to the managers of these places and try it. Maybe they could come up with a hundred copies or so.

I'll tell you who the worst President we've had in the post-WWII era is.

He responded to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan by dashing the dreams of thousands of Olympic hopefuls around the world with his boycott of the Moscow games.

He negotiated and signed a treaty that turned the greatest engineering feat in US history- the Panama Canal- over to a banana republic. The Canal is now managed for Panama by Communist China.

He did nothing to protect an important US ally from a mob of ruthless fanatics. When those fanatics stormed our embassy and took the staff hostage, he sent an ill-conceived, ill-planned and weak-hearted rescue attempt that failed miserably.

He allowed the United States to be strong armed by a foreign oil cartel made up mostly of the same people who fund international terrorists.

He claimed to have negotiated a major diplomatic breakthrough and victory for peace with the Camp David Accords. In reality, he simply convinced the Egyptian president that his nation had been thoroughly beaten by Isreal and that continued fighting would be futile. That Egyptian president was later assissinated because of the deal, and Egyptians such as Yasser Arafat and Mohommed Al-Zawahari play key leadership roles in deadly terrorist groups.

His handling of the economy lead to record inflation, record interest rates, and unemployment levels not seen since the Great Depression. Furthermore, taxes were through the roof. The press responded by creating the "Misery Index" to quantify the impact on ordinary people.

Since leaving office, he has negotiated deals with Haiti and North Korea. Haiti failed and is now being occupied again by US troops. Not only did North Korea renig on their end of the deal, there's no evidence they ever complied. The current President is forced to deploy anti-ballistic missile systems to defend against a nuclear attack from a desperate and unstable regime.

Who is this failed President? Jimmy Carter.

If fighting an "unnecessary war" is the criteria we use, as some Dems would suggest, then you still don't need to debate over whether Iraq is an unnessary war. That makes Johnson the worst President ever.

Well...I wouldn't call him the best president ever. And he certainly isn't the worst. I think he would probably fall in the top ten.
