Why? "When people are not only humiliated by foreign forces, but oppressed by their own government, they often retreat to the 'inner life' of the spirit, pure and simple, where they can feel free from the corruption of power and sophistication," say the authors of "Occidentalism." No, because mohammad pre-programmed islam to spread the hive through war, violence and subversion.

our only defense will be to capture or kill him before he does the same to us.
I vote for kill.
and it looks like it's going to require doing so in mass quantities.
or we could nuke their super duper holy rock.
allah's rock will surely defend itself against nukes right?

The author gives the terrorists too much credit. While I believe at one time they were driven by their beliefs, I think they have evolved into a group or psychopaths who joined up in order to be able to live out their destructive ambitions using religion as a cover.

(Sigh) We could finish this war in an hour by igniting Islam's funeral pyre with the light of a million suns. Fusion devices programmed for airburst detonation would minimize radioactive fallout while spreading destruction far and wide. Numerically, Islam would be reduced to a cult - practiced only by the survivors as they chase rats through the ruins to have for dinner.
The only problem is the fact that most Americans don't like to resort to such extreme measures, and find it morally repugnant. Not to mention damage to the ozone layer, global cooling from the soot and ash of burning cities, possible ground water contamination from when vaporized bomb casings fall back down with the rain, et cetera.
I, however, do not share that sentiment. We will never "win hearts and minds" within Islam as long as we remain ourselves, just as Islam will never adapt to the modern world.

This is interesting, but it overlooks the home-grown Islamist threat, right here in the US.
There is an (literally) unholy alliance of the Socialst Workers Party USA, Communist Party-USA, Communist Party-Iraq, and the Islamic movement on campus.
Check out the below links, found on an American's web-page, linked to an Islamic discussion board.
This is linked on the page of a poster [(

There is much more to the "anti-war" movement than most seem to realize. Check out a few links for yourselves, and see what is not being told on the "news" when demonstrations are covered.

I highly recommend the book by Lee Harris, Civilization and Its Enemies. The big enemy right now is, of course, Islam, and he discusses how it is different and simultaneously more dangerous than other enemies we have faced in the past.
Definitely worth a read.

The great tragedy of this war with Islam - a phrase with which I agree - that it has dragged us into conflict with all Muslims. Perhaps there will arise within Islam a move- ment that will moderate the tenets of the faith, but I doubt it.
Islam has existed for too long without internal questioning for this to happen. It is difficult to imagine that Islam will undergo the same sort of reform that transformed Christianity (for the better and for the worse) from a religion that exercised power through the tenacles of the state to a faith that (at least in theory) influences policy throught the well-spring of the heart.
There are Muslims who wish no part of this war - I know because I've met them - but their religion is being used in such a way as to bring it into conflict with the entire world.
It is we in the West - not to mention in places like India, and Africa which have seen violent religious conflict - who are are on the front lines on the struggle but the rear areas (like China and Latin America) will be drawn into the fray.
As a Christian, I beleive this struggle was an historical and Biblical inevitablitiy, but that does not lessen my regret at the loss of life.
