52 - "I think FR is being singled out. I see articles from these places posted in Yahoo groups and other websites all the time. None of them (to my knowledge) has ever been threatened in this way."

I think you are right. I think the liberals saw the power of FR in the last election, and perhaps we even got Bush elected by trying to keep them straight in Florida and FReeping other places, and the election is coming up.

So the liberals are trying to pull our teeth before the election.

Someone (not sure on which thread) suggested that instead of posting the usual sources, post links to the lib sites that are free (no threats of lawsuits are evident) to post the entire article. Maybe we should.

So the liberals are trying to pull our teeth before the election.

And with our acquiescence, they have succeeded. I don't have any links, but I do know there were several reports that FReepers proved were blatant lies put forth by the Media that were revoked after they were called on and exposed. Those prior lies were retained and exposed in the articles kept on FreeRepublic; they were stricken off the sites that initially posted them.

Some have called for the FReepers to set up their own reporting. We indeed have the Right to do that; I doubt that we would ever be granted the Privileged Access ^ that our Corporate-run government has put in place without a second Revolution.

Back when the WP/LAT too FR on, this is what Jim was fighting for:

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of the press

If you want to see just how far away from these Rights we have gone, I would ask you to visit this column and supporting info at WorldNetDaily ^. If there is any doubt that the WP/LAT vs. FR lawsuit has allowed a molehill to become a mountain -- that proves it. Now the folks that wish to report on governmental or political excess not only have to fight the Corporate Government, they are also tied to the Judicial policy of stares decisis and Justice will remain blind to our Rights.

I understand why Jim and FR had to settle -- we would not be here otherwise, as FR would have been shut down along with a number of other sites. I am grateful for the knowledge and info I find daily here, and for the vast breadth of informed FReepers that post here. I don't agree with everything or everyone, but it is all appreciated.

Thank you, Jim.

Cheers,
Mike.
