This should be broadcast on TV. In prime time and during the news.

Count me in as another fan of this ad... however, it should be posted together with the John Kerry "Welcome Back" ad by the same creator. Talk about your one-two punch!!!!

The only thing a Prez can do to influence the job market is to create conditions that are favorable to business hiring more workers. Simply put, easing tax burdens on business, regulatory challenges and legal hassles all make business more willing and able to create new jobs because only then are they going to feel secure in making new investments.
For example, out-sourcing to overseas-one should ask the question about why it is so damn burdensome here in this country to do some of these tasks. What have we done to business that makes them want to ship jobs overseas? When capital is punished, it goes elsewhere. Where it is welcomed, it goes. How many lawsuits, taxes, insurance nightmares, etc has the average American company had to put up with in recent years.
Bush eased taxes, regulations, and the punitive burden of lawsuits. Here in Texas, my Worker's Comp insurance was increasing at 50-70% a year until (under Gov GW Bush) we got tort reform. Now my rates have dropped and remained steady. Dems fight that stuff all day long. The lawyers dont want tort reform and the average worker doesnt understand that when his company takes a hit, it will eventually affect the work force.

Wonderfully stated and very true, TreeClimber. Thank you --- that is very refreshing after tons of anti-corporate posts here on FR.
I agree with your last post but not the first: nothing in what was mentioned is "Bush record."
Incidentally, even tax cuts are passed by congress: president can take initiative, but he is not responsible for the tax environment in this country. He could've --- and should've --- pushed for tort reform, but he did not.
Congress affects the economy through fiscal policy, and the Fed through monetary one. Presidents take credit and blame for it but they have nothing to do with it.

Prez is not responsible for any legislation-Congress is. You are right. While it may be a matter of semantics to state that he is 'responsible or not' for legislation, a President should take the lead and set the agenda and cause the Congress, thru use of the bully pulpit, the press and the force of his personality, to pass HIS agenda. So in a real sense, he IS responsible. Thats what separates the leaders from the pretenders.
