Hamas raises $122,000 to keep up its fight with Israel

In Gaza City, Hamas extended a fund-raising drive late into the night Friday after thousands of Palestinians were still lined up to donate as the campaign ended.

Hamas announced in mosques Friday that it needs money to keep up its fight with Israel. "If you can't give your life, you can at least give your money," the loudspeaker cried out. The terror group is trying to strengthen itself ahead of an expected Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

Hamas officials on Saturday refused to say how much money they had collected, but there were reports of individual donations of up to $50,000. Thousands of people lined up to donate small sums of cash, jewelry and even hand grenades and a car.

Hamas fund-raising abroad has been seriously hampered in recent months, with Israel and the United States trying to stop the transfer of funds. In February, Israeli troops raided several banks in the West Bank, seizing nearly $7 million of what Israel said was money funneled to terrorists, including Hamas, from abroad.

According to Bahrainian newspaper, the organization wishes to prove that following the freezing of its financial assets in the US and Europe, it can still raise funds needed to purchase weapons and explosives.

The group is also in the midst of negotiations with the Palestinian Authority over who will control Gaza after an Israeli withdrawal, and the collection drive was seen as a show of strength by the increasingly popular opposition group.

Israel should have donated a few thousand dollars worth of explosives and ammo to the cause...

Yonif, this may be an excellent model.

We find a bottomless pit. We tell the terrorist sympathizers to go 'behind the curtain, to donate, then give them a gentle push as they pull the curtain.

In less than no-time at all, Allah will only be able to give out 11.7 virgins per arrival.

All humor aside, I hope someone was taking names and filing them away. People who sympathize with the Hamas(sholes) should be virgin-bound post haste.

Who, besides the Palestinian terrorists (not all palis are terrorists) think Isreal is the terrorist???
It's the Pali terrorists who try to keep their subjects poor and hopeless so that they'll be willing to fight and give allegiance to terror leaders. The Israelis hire Palis for jobs, allow palis to run for office, to *gasp* speak freely! Will pali terror leaders EVER allow dissenting opinion - no, they'll simply kill anyone who disagrees.
Your assertion is absurd.

alright look i'll make this as short as possible because im trashed on this gloomy saturday night.. As much as i repsect the bush amin, and what they are trying to do on other sids of the atlantic, it it just me or is it a tad fshy when we want to go after what countries that MAY have WMD'x. Yer to proven in Iraq, and still there has been no evidence found of Saddams socalled weapons. then on our side, we be G.W using whatever is in his arsenal, definite WMDz, and he wants to get in other countries faces about their self defense programs? Don't we all reserive the right to protect ourselves? Yes i believe Saddam had some, as any president/tyrant does they reseve the right to protect their lsnd/.

I just want our good willing innocent troops out of there, we haven't done one thing yet for these iraqi's.. A lot of you seem to think that bombing Mecca is THE STATEMENT.. Look, we hve no reason being in there because tennant and his bd info let us into this mess.

Look just my 2 cents but i'd expect the east to conduct something relatitory. Iran, N. Korea and Al Queda. Fr bush, too little too late, stock up on yer bottles of booze. If you don't t hink the east will strke back on the USA, then WHAM is stll together.

Nite...]

so say theoritcally, the US gets messed up internally, where exactly will they strike back? They've bombed every mountain in afganistan, nobody knows where Osama is, You tell me, where will the US Strike back? As biased as yer opinion may be, you know as well as I do that dropping a MOAB will be ineffective towards this multi-celled group, WITHIN THe US.

Comments more than welcome.

- righty.

(we lost this war, if you can call it that. What we havent seen is retaliatin from the East, which wont be pretty.) I blame it on bad policy..

Just my 2 cents, but this supposed uncoming attack on the USA will leave them helpless, Nuke who?

look up north korea while yer at it. We will NOT see 205 unless you have a bunker.

- later and peace.
