I think things started going off the tracks for the Democrats after the Kennedy assassination, like that sent them even harder left as if to prove that something like that couldn't stop their agenda. Johnson immediately started doing uncharacteristic (for him) Great Society things, and that worked for a while as the baby boomers pulled the whole country that way. The Democrats have stayed there even after that whole fad ended, though.

The wonder to me is how they stayed in power so long, probably because they were so effective at making Republicans seem "uncool" and it took a Reagan to turn that around.

I agree .. but I think it was because they found out who did it and buried the information. The party began a downward spiral after that. I don't know who it was .. but I have always thought there were 2 possibilities why the info was burried - it was either some dem/dem connected person .. or .. when the dems found out who it was - they decided that American people were too fragile to take the truth [just more of the liberal mindset].

I think that it's because they got so good at using deception to tell the mindless masses what they wanted to hear. Now they don't even bother much with deception. Why should they when outright lying works so much better and the idiots they target don't know any better and don't care to?
