Why is Gorelick on the Commission instead of testifying under oath before the commission?

Who do we write to in order to demand her removal from the panel?

Per the 1995 Wall Street Journal book Whitewater, it was Gorelick who "pulled Whitewater back into main Justice."

Where she could beat up those attorneys breathing on the fat ankles.

"The Church and Pike committees undermined the ability of our intelligence agencies to do their job, Romerstein said. "Prior to Sept. 11, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act [FISA] made it impossible for the FBI, which had possession of one of the hijackers' computers to get a warrant from the court to get into that computer and know what the terrorists were planning."

FISA was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Jimmy Carter in 1978 and followed congressional investigations into the covert domestic surveillance activities of the FBI during the Vietnam era.

Former President Bill Clinton signed an executive order in Feb. 1995, expanding the law. It barred the physical searches of members of groups designated threats to national security if there was no probable cause to suspect a crime had been committed."

Did I hear A.G. Ashcroft say that prior to 911 we increased our DOJ budget to go after drugs and guns? I think he meant illegal drugs and guns. How about we focus on the real threat and not the patriotic American firearm owner who thinks it's his duty to be armed, as have citizens of democracies since the bronze age?

Do we have an actual date in 1995 for this memo? I don't see it.

Doesn't appear to be a date on the memo, which is unusual, memos usually have dates, and everyone seems to know it's from April 1995... but which exact date.

Freeper mfulstone on another thread, mentions that the OKC bombing happened on April 19, 1995 and wonders if this "separation" or "wall" might have been erected to keep the OKC investigation from being broadened (if, indeed, it post-dates April 19, 1995).

His exact words are: "The Gorelick rules were meant to ensure that "no 'proactive' investigative efforts or technical coverages" of terrorist suspects be carried out on U.S. soil."

Where is the date on the memo?

Also from Mister Ashcroft's opening remarks (and you will not get this plain talk from the media whores for their dnc): "After the FBI arrested Moussaoui, agents became suspicious of his interest in commercial aircraft and sought approval for a criminal warrant to search his computer. The warrant was rejected because FBI officials feared breaching the wall." Gore Lick's wall, written no doubt while ensconced on her 'clinton kneepads'.

MAN, that is just damning of the Clinton administration claim of being serious about stopping Terrorists!!

I still remember the near immediate and fervent retractions and apologies extended to Arab-Americans over initial suspicions and suspect descriptions after the OK City bombing.

Did this partition of data prevent any Islamic terrorist connections from being made so the Clintons could blame the 'vast right-wing conspiracy' and muzzle what was growing outrage over the events at Waco?

I wouldn't put it past the Clintons, (but wait! there's more!!). This would not only allow painting disgruntled gun-owning white men as terrorist stock, but preserve the feel-good climate of safety and security (allowing the economy to continue to balloon), making the WTC bombing look like an isolated incident, not one in an escalating series of attacks.

In retrospect, if TWA 800 was brought down by a missile (as numerous witnesses claimed to have seen), Terry Nichols' wife had connections to terrorists in the Philippines (or Terry did), these could have been part of a series of attacks which finally culminated in an undeniable terrorist attack on US soil.

we believe that it is prudent to establish a act of instructions that will clearly separate the counterintelligence investigation from the mere limited, but continued, criminal investigations.
These procedures, which go beyond what is legally required, will prevent any risk of creating an unwarranted appearance that FISA is being used to avoid procedural safeguards which would apply in a criminal investigation.

Yo Gorelick! How about writing some guidelines that prevent any risk of creating an unwarranted terrorist attack!

Aha! The Lord works in mysterious ways...

The Mossouiai(sp)laptop always had me puzzled. They could have prevented 9/11 - and lo and behold, one of the individuals most at fault/proximate cause is a "liberal" (no surprise there) and ON THE COMMISSION! Lawyers will be the literal ruin of this country, I'm convinced.

Truth really is stranger than fiction.

The Murrah Bldg in OK city was blown up on April 19, 1995.
Exactly what date in 1995 was that Gorelick memo published?

The contents of the memo may have been secret but its existence was not.
The date is Mar. 4, 1995.
So, yes, you can possibly lay Oklahoma City on it too :-)

Office of the Attorney General
Washington, DC 20530
July 19, 1995
MEMORANDUM

TO:

Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Division
United States Attorney, Southern District of New York
Director, FBI
Counsel for Intelligence Policy

FROM: The Attorney General [signed: Janet Reno]
SUBJECT:

Effect of Procedures Governing FBI-Criminal Division Contacts During FI/FCI Investigations on Specific Instructions Concerning Separation of Certain FCI and Criminal Investigations

The memorandum issued by me today regarding procedures for contacts between the FBI and the Criminal Division concerning foreign intelligence and foreign counterintelligence investigations does not affect the specific instructions, contained in a memorandum from the Deputy Attorney General issued March 4, 1995, governing the separation of certain foreign counterintelligence and criminal investigations. Those instructions remain in effect.

Just sent this:

Dear Commissioner Kean,
with yesterday's testimony and declassification of a DOJ Memo authored by Jamie Gorelick while serving as an Assistant AG under Bill Clinton, it is not only right, but imperative, that Ms. Gorelick should resign from the 9-11 Commission and testify as to what her part was in keeping terrorists from being investigated by the FBI.

A person who may have contributed to the horrific events of 9-11should not be on the 9-11 Commissions. They should testify, not pass judgment on the actions of others.

If Ms. Gorelick does not resign and testify to her part in these events, the creditability of the 9-11 Commission will be compromised.

In the hope you will take the appropriate measure in the near future, I am

Very sincerely yours,

Danny Lee
