I posted a thread, but the link went bad. All of the runoffs have been decided. These are the important races:
Railroad Commissioner:
Victor Carillo, 138,130 (65%)
Robert Butler, 75,298 (35)
Congress:
District 1
Louis Gohmert 16,549 (57%)
John Graves 12,290 (43%)
District 5
Michael McCaul 14,373 (64%)
Ben Streusand 8,139 (36%)
Distrcit 17
Arlene Wohlgometh 17,010 (54%)
Dot Snyder 14,494 (46%)

For a RINO in Texas, Snyder did surprisingly well. But I still think that Arlene Wohlgemuth will be one of the stars of Capitol Hill. Her race for Congress will be the most important race in Texas this year.

I voted just before the polls closed. However, only 19 people all day voted at my polling place (two precincts combined). The problem was that, while it was held at the local city hall, it was behind a door that had no indication that that's where it was. I had to call the county registrar's office, they didn't know what was going on. Luckily, someone else showed us the way.

Agreed; with Ho Chi Kerry on top of the ticket here for Democrats in Texas, Stenholm is sweating buckets.
As for Snyder, it looks like her negative ads made this race closer than it should have been.

U.S Rep 28th District, 212 of 214 Precincts reporting. Canseco 1,035. Hobson 1,884
Neither one of these guys would make Cuellar break a sweat. Canseco, being from Webb County, could make Rodriguez at least work for it, if Rodriguez wins his election contest.

Can someone say why McCaul won by such a large margin? Did Streusand do something stupid? Perry push call again?

Does the Democrat have much chance against Wohlgemuth? Sadly, yes. Chet Edwards has a good chance to retain his seat. Too many people see him as a "conservative Democrat" and will vote for him while @ the same time voting for President Bush.

She's taking on a 'Rat incumbent, Chet Edwards, who has held this district since 1990. But redistricting increased Republican strength and Wohlgemuch is the toughest opponent he has ever faced. I rate this race as very close, with Wohlgemuth slightly favored.

Can someone say why McCaul won by such a large margin? Did Streusand do something stupid? Perry push call again? I think the Patterson endorsement did him in, plus a bit of "voter fatigue" over recieving a bombardment of campaign literature and ads from Streusand.
That, and what McCaul via Lowry Mays did was unprecedented - getting the active endorsement of virtually every sitting statewide elected official in Texas, and by active I mean that they were all cutting ads and putting out statements on his behalf. Those endorsements turned an unknown career bureaucrat with a dubious partisan track record and equally dubious affiliations with the Clinton administration into a republican "star," or at least the child of several republican "stars," in the minds of many voters. It doesn't make McCaul any less wretched as an individual, but he did decieve enough people into thinking that he's something he is not and never will be.

Here's what's bizarre: Streusand had on paper all the big TX players (Hutchison, etc) . McCaul claims none. Did he have the prez?
