Voting centers are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Early voting ends Dec. 5. Several races are on the ballot -- including the City of Houston mayor. A new poll shows that one mayoral candidate is in a better position than the other when it comes to the runoff. The poll was conducted by the University of Houston, Houston Public Media and the Houston Chronicle. The results are nearly identical to what was seen on Election Night with Sen. John Whitmire maintaining a 7-point lead over Rep. Sheila Jackson...

Texas State Sen. John Whitmire and U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee are advancing to a runoff election for Houston mayor since neither cleared the 50% threshold. Both stood out in a crowded field for their high levels of name recognition, decades of public service, and in Whitmire's case, a prodigious campaign war chest that enabled him to blanket the airwaves with commercials. Jackson Lee is widely considered the more progressive of the two leading candidates.

I live in NYS and keep getting texts from Savannah GA phone numbers with a specific street address in Cortland county to vote for Warlock. I called the Board of Elections in Cortland county and they could not have been more disinterested. They just said "the texts are coming from us" and "purchased lists from 3rd parties." Can anyone suggest how to report this as electioneering/voter fraud?

While voter turnout remained strong, absentee voting in Georgia dropped off drastically in this year’s midterm election, the first major test of an expansive 2021 voting law that added restrictions for casting ballots by mail. Data released by the Georgia secretary of state showed that mail voting in the state’s November general election plunged by 81% from the level of the 2020 contest. [The 2021 law]..significantly limited drop boxes, added voter identification requirements and prevented election officials from proactively mailing out absentee ballot applications.

When the final tally comes in for the Georgia runoff, the country should expect the candidate behind in the count to take to the courts.Initial data from the November 2022 general election indicates more than 25,000 Georgians may have voted illegally in the general election. And the problem appears poised to repeat itself when voters cast their ballots in the state’s runoff election for senator on Dec. 6, 2022. Absent a win by a substantial margin by either Republican challenger Herschel Walker or Democrat incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, litigation, with the potential ordering of a new election, seems likely —...

On Dec. 6, voters in Georgia will decide a run-off between incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker, the former Heisman Trophy winner, and NFL star. At this point, only one thing is assured by this election: since both men are black, Georgia’s next senator is guaranteed to be black.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), who just won reelection by nearly 8 percentage points, has cut a new ad for Senate candidate Herschel Walker that will begin airing throughout his state on Thanksgiving Day. The ad is part of a $14.2 million television, radio and digital advertising campaign funded by the Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC linked to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), seeking to boost Walker after his race against Sen. Raphael Warnock (D) went to a Dec. 6 runoff.

So the GA runoff is 2 weeks from today. For those in GA whats going on on the ground? Other than some posts regarding getting early voting started earlier and that suit.. haven't seen much. Walker lost by .9% of the vote, and libertarian got 2.1% It's hard to see Warnock losing much of his vote, so is there a shot a walker getting any of that 2.1%? Is the GOP ground game strong enough to seriously mount the turnout needed to win? Last runoff Democrats managed to do better than a combination of the 2 D's running in first...

Fulton County Judge Thomas A. Cox handed a legal victory to Georgia Democrats and Raphael Warnock’s campaign on Friday. The Georgia Secretary of State cannot prohibit counties from voting on the Saturday after Thanksgiving as is currently stated in Georgia election law.The Democrat Party of Georgia sued Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office to allow early voting on Nov. 26, the only Saturday in the early voting period for the run-off race between incumbent Democrat Senator Warnock and Hershel Walker, his Republican challenger. Georgia election law reforms put into effect by state legislation shortened early voting in a run-off election...

Incumbent Raphael Warnock (D) and Herschel Walker (R) advanced to a runoff election on December 6, 2022. Warnock, Walker, and Chase Oliver (L) ran to represent Georgia in the U.S. Senate. In Georgia, a general election advances to a runoff between the two top finishers if no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote. Since none of the candidates received this level of support on November 8 in the general election, a runoff is scheduled to take place on December 6. Warnock won his 2021 special runoff election by a margin of 2 percentage points.

RIO DE JANEIRO — For months, pollsters and analysts had said that President Jair Bolsonaro was doomed. He faced a wide and unwavering deficit in Brazil’s high-stakes presidential race, and in recent weeks, the polls had suggested he could even lose in the first round, ending his presidency after just one term. Instead, it was Mr. Bolsonaro who was celebrating. While the challenger, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a former leftist president, finished the night ahead, Mr. Bolsonaro far outperformed forecasts and sent the race to a runoff. Mr. da Silva received 48.4 percent of the votes, and Mr. Bolsonaro...

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Brazil's top two presidential candidates were neck-and-neck late Sunday in a highly polarized election that could determine if the country returns a leftist to the helm of the world's fourth-largest democracy or keeps the far-right incumbent in office for another four years. The race pits incumbent President Jair Bolsonaro against his political nemesis, leftist former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. There are nine other candidates, but their support pales to that for Bolsonaro and da Silva.

Heres pics of the ballot machine that I used. Was told it is not a Dominion machine but they did not know what company made it. They said I could find out by calling the Atty Generals office. Was only one cord coming from it...the power. I suppose it could have been Wifi and couldnt tell but there was no ethernet. They said that its calibrated before voting to zero it out and all data is transferred via encrypted USB memory stick.

What a bad year to be a Florida manatee. For the first time on record, more than 1,000 of the sea mammals have died in a calendar year — and it’s not even December yet. That could amount to 1 in every 7 of the state’s manatees gone in less than 11 months. Many of them starved, thanks to a die-off of seagrass, a problem worsened by human-made pollution. In the short run, Florida owes it to this iconic mammal to find ways to mitigate the damage. It’s also time to put the manatees back on the endangered species list,...

Candidates were required to obtain 50 percent or more of the vote in order to avoid a runoff election. Wright received 19 percent of the vote in the crowded, 23-person special election that will now head to a runoff. Democrats were shut out of the runoff as of Saturday night’s results, with Republican state legislator Jake Ellzey coming in second in the field. Democrat Jana Lynne Sanchez, who also ran for the 6th district in 2018, was left in 3rd place and will not advance to the runoff; Democrats will not be able to flip the seat.

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida woman who was reported missing on March 3 was rescued from a storm drain Tuesday, authorities said. The unidentified woman, believed to be in her 40s, was found naked and trapped in a storm drain in Delray Beach. Someone passing by heard her cries for help and called 911, officials said. Firefighters responded and removed the storm grate, lowered down a ladder and lifted the woman to safety. “She was unable to stand up,” Delray Beach Fire Rescue spokeswoman Dani Moschella told WPLG. “She didn’t have any clothes on.
