Trump-Endorsed Candidate Susan Wright Leads Runoff Field in Texas Special Election

Candidates were required to obtain 50 percent or more of the vote in order to avoid a runoff election. Wright received 19 percent of the vote in the crowded, 23-person special election that will now head to a runoff. Democrats were shut out of the runoff as of Saturday night’s results, with Republican state legislator Jake Ellzey coming in second in the field. Democrat Jana Lynne Sanchez, who also ran for the 6th district in 2018, was left in 3rd place and will not advance to the runoff; Democrats will not be able to flip the seat.

Trump endorses her and the others stick around forcing the runoff. That's how we lost Ga.(2 Senate seats). The longer battles play into our enemies hands yet our activists think it's all about them. Perhaps Collins should have taken himself out in Ga. ahead of time. We're the stupid party.

Buckley rule: The most conservative who can WIN. Purity should only count when it’s in the bag. This one may be but we’re not helping much.

53% GOP in the last election, down from the 60+ in the Joe Barton/Phil Graham days. That’s it get the rats excited.

In, the GOP locked out the Democrats. It’s going to be an R v R general.

Doesn’t sound so stupid now does it?

Uh, the GOP collectively won 61% of the vote last night.

Who determines “who can win”?

This is where the trouble lies every single time. We end up with the conservative least objectionable to Democrats.

Trump has learned his lesson about endorsing RINOs who turn around and stab him in the back.

2022 will see Trump actively campaigning for conservative patriots to unseat RINO traitors.

This is how the GOP will be taken over by the voters.

This is how we win back the WH in 2024. If the RINO-controlled state legislatures had enforced voter ID in 2020, Trump would still be president.

Can't wait to witness the RINO purge in 2022.

I wish Trump would get out there and speak about W Bush and remind everyone just what it is that W now supports.

61% GOP in the primary? I stand corrected. If Ms. wright won with around 20% it still doesn’t explain why we have to go through another election-didn’t have to happen. What I’m saying is that Trump has to knock some heads together and get us on the same page. The rats have no problem doing it.

W’s endorsed anti-Trump candidate, Wood, did poorly.

It’s called a “Jungle Primary”, very fashionable among Democrat circles. If no candidate wins a majority, they have a two candidate runoff, with the top two vote winners regardless of party. If the Democrats can convince the Republicans to flood the zone with GOP candidates, the Dems have a good chance of winning one or both of the runoff spots and maybe get over the top with a quality candidate.

The GOP, as usual, did the Dem bidding, but they still managed to get the two top spots, albeit by only a few votes. The GOP would be the worst political party in the country if it weren’t for the Libertarians.

This is a solid Red district, but the Democrats might have stolen it. Wright will win.

Read the details, dude. The runoff is going to be TWO REPUBLICANS facing off against each other.

I will take that scenario in ANY election.

Yes the district will stay red. Jake Ellzey is a decorated veteran and war hero. Graduated from the Naval Academy. Trump endorsed Susan because they feared the seat might go to the RATs because of the GOP splitting the vote. According to a very early poll, she had the highest name recognition and had the best chance against the Dem. Since it didn’t turnout with D vs R, Trump should not get involved further. His endorsement could have made the D be the second highest vote getter instead of Ellzey who won the early vote.

Commenting without reading the article is typical FR.

It’s another thing when the poster doesn’t read the article.

Collins would have been a better Senator than Loefler. Kemp should have appointed him in the first place.
