Looks like partisan politics to me! A Republican asks for more national security and a democrat-leaning federal employee says everythings just fine, or better than ever! Sometimes I really believe that the dems were not so much concerned that the trade centers & Pentagon were attacked, but that the perpetrators didn't do more (take out the WH, etc.) while they were at it! It would be easy to believe some of the conspiracy things about the dems b/c they do hate us all so much!

18 - "I still want to know if this memo was initiated because of OKC, among other things."

Good catch Nita. And, for some reason (I wonder what?) still nobody will admit that OKC was part of this war that Muslims have been waging on us for many years.

And why is there no date on the letter?

As far as I'm concerned whether Gore-lick stays on or not is irrelevant. This commission is a national disgrace because its mission is premature and an exploitation of a tragedy for political gain by the Demorats. America is in the midst of war and this dialogue should be implemented after the end of hostilities not during.

The fact that the CIA and FBI were not communicating and operating under inadequate and antiquated systems and procedures was well known by everyone especially by the CLINTON REGIME and they did nothing about it during the 90's when something could have been done.

There should be commission - a commission investigating the clinton cabal and why nothing was done to prevent 9-11 and all the other attacks that occurred in the 90's!

32 - "Well, she didn't lie, it all depends on what signed means, and to a lawyer, initialed is not the same thing as signed."

the meaning of 'signed'.

This is a very strange format

It is probably part of Gore's paperwork reduction/improving government (hide resposibility) program.

There is no date, and there is no signature block.

There is no place to 'sign' the letter, and 'initial' means "to approve", sign means to "command or wish made known".

As the letter is "FROM:" jamie goerlic, and is on her letterhead, and she 'initialed' it over her name, with no provision for a signature block, it was effectively 'signed', or 'commanded'.

The answer to this lie, is, what would have happened if the directions contained in the letter were disobeyed.

I have no doubt holy hell would have been raised with those who ignored its commands.

This is a very strange format

This is not a very strange format. It is a very usual format at the upper levels of the U.S. government. What the record will also show, is that this memo was coordinated with a number of other high level political folks before she approved it - and approve it she most certainly did. This is a lawful document setting forth the policies of the U.S. government on the matters under consideration.

Parse her denial "I didn't sign." She did "initial," but that's different from "signing." A true Clintonite who learned to lie like her master.

Ah, I just thought about more sculduggery. This is constantly referred to as a 'memo' or 'memorandum', which is a format designed for purposes of being an informal record. Sort of like a written telephone call, or informal notes of a meeting, not 'minutes' of a meeting.

This document is not a 'memo', it is a directive, and constantly 'directs' / 'commands' The NY attorney, the CIA and the FBI to do certain things. It is not a 'memo' at all.

That is why there is no signature block. The idiot woman used the wrong form !!!

It is a very strnge format for a formal directive. It is not a 'memo', it is a directive.

You are wrong. Secreatry's, full, deputy, and assistant communicate official policy to their subordinates via memoranda. This is an official legal document with the full force and effect of the administrative authorities that the Deputy AG has by virtue of her position as a duly appointed and confirmed consitutional officer of the U.S. government.

It is quite usual and quite normal. In fact, it is the way it is done.

WOW!

First time I've seen that one.

What an indictment on the Clinton administration AND Richard (czar) Clarke personally!

So typical of the ghastly crew during the clintoon years. None of them ever tell the truth. When in doubt...just ly your as$ off.

Can you believe she did this on live TV, when the declassified document speaks for itself. OFF THE COMMITTEE NOW.

This document is being passed all over the internet. THIS COMMITTEE HAS BECOME A JOKE. When it's finished with it's report recommendation....NO ONE WILL BE STUPID ENOUGH TO TRUST IT.

Since you've been finding some interesting archives, check this one out (#122).

Maybe Tillie Fowler should be called to testify as well.

No they didn't change formats. This is how a superior always provides direction to a subordinate in a specific instance. Now, if you are thinking about standing ordes, operating procedures and departmental directives, that is a different matter, but that does not generally apply to a specific case like this.

It is not unsigned. There is a formal process for obtaining release authority for something like this, and believe me it would have been done. This was not just some flunky writing a memo and sending it around.

You would think that after 8 years of being schooled in the art of the lie at the knees of Rodham & Gommorrah that Gorelick would be able to lie better....

It's not the lying that's getting her, it's the hard evidence being found. Bubba was/is an expert at getting others caught with the goods while he and she "don't recall" all day long.

I disagree. The memo says the new procedures "go beyond what is legally required." She was taking a really bad statutory policy and deliberately making it worse. That's why she lied about signing the memo.

Hmmmmm. Before the OK City bombing....by nearly 6 weeks. Shot down one of my pet theories....maybe.
