Albania May Send More Troops to Iraq
Yahoo News ^ | 4/19/04 | AP

Albania, a predominantly Muslim country, told the United States it was prepared to send more non-combat troops to Iraq (news - web sites), the government said Monday, in a possible expansion of the 71-member-strong contingent patrolling the northern city of Mosul under U.S. command.

Despite the small number of Albanian forces, the public commitment from Tirana was bound to be welcome news to the United States after Spain's weekend announcement that it was withdrawing its 1,300-member contingent as soon as possible.

Albanian Foreign Minister Kastriot Islami made the offer Friday in a letter to Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites).

The statement did not say what the increase would be. But earlier this month the defense ministry said it was considering increasing its commitment to 200 soldiers, despite the recent terrorist attacks against members of the U.S.-led coalition.

"We have expressed our readiness to positively respond to the request for additional forces and we are working to set the practical details to achieve that," the minister was quoted as telling Powell.

Albania was one of the most vocal backers of the U.S.-led war in Iraq. Although it was unable to provide significant military support, it opened its airspace and offered U.S.-led forces the use of its bases.

The only solution, in my opinion, is to carve Kosovo... The north, by Mitrovica and the Trepka mines, would go to the Serbs, the rest of the land to the Albanians...

So we are to reward the terrorist actions of the KLA by giving them a part of someone else's country? Sounds like a very bad idea to me.

The Serbs don't have the stomach to deal with constant death and destruction -there's too little to be gained...

Right, as evidenced by the way all partisan activity came to an end in Serb lands occupied by the Germans in WW2...NOT!

The Serbs will fight for their land to the very end. It is the KLA who will be forced to abandon Serbian land.

Are you really comparing the heroic Serb fighters to the fighters who ran from large chunks of Bosnia as soon as they faced an ARMED enemy, and the Serbs that ran away from the Krajina region? Come on... They don't have the heart. They have the weapons, but it takes more heart and perseverence. The people of Serbia don't have the appetite for it either.

Also, as you FAIL to point out, BOTH sides lay claim to the land. It's debateable as to who really has a right to it.

The Serbs that ran away were unarmed civilians or grossly outnumbered fighters.

International law recognizes the Serbian ownership of Kosovo. Hell, ownership of the United States can be debatable if you want to go far enough down that road.

The facts are that the Albanians flooded the area via illegal immigration following the complete collapse of the Albanian economy (and the Ponzi-style retirement scheme). They have used terrorism to drive out the Serbs over a twenty-year period and then fooled the international community into helping them when the Serbs fought back. Much of this has significance for certain states in the Southwestern US.

Now that the international community has been forced to see their true nature via their recent pre-planned pogrom and destruction of irreplaceable Christian medieval treasures, this will not be the case again.

The question has been raised: should the KLA be rewarded for terrorism via the partitioning of Kosovo?

A ping for some additional input.

Good thing you are in NY, because based on the same facts, California should be carved as well. Give the southern half to Mexico.

Why don't you stick to the original topic- Albania- this is NOT a Kosovo thread.

Talk about a leading and rhetorical question, crafting it to suit your whim. A push poll in the worst way... Nice of you to invite the radical pro-Milosevic apologists to comment...

Why don't you ask this on a Kosovo or Serb thread, not an Albania thread.

By the way, how many soldiers is Serbia sending to Iraq? How much support is Serbia providing of ANY kind, Answer - NONE!!!

Since the KLA was identified as a terrorist organization and has used terrorism to advance their goals, the question is based in fact. Sorry if you don't like the facts.

Nice of you to invite the radical pro-Milosevic apologists to comment...

I'm sorry, I didn't get the memo designating you as the person who could dictate who could and could not participate in a thread.

By the way, the Milosevic stuff has gotten very tired. We are clearly in support of a democratized Serbia reclaiming the land within her recognized international borders. Milosevic is gone and good riddance! If it weren't for the KLA, the Serbs themselves would have gotten rid of Slobo even earlier.

Why don't you ask this on a Kosovo or Serb thread, not an Albania thread.

I'm sorry, I didn't get the memo designating you as the person who could dictate what could be said on a thread.

By the way, how many soldiers is Serbia sending to Iraq? How much support is Serbia providing of ANY kind, Answer - NONE!!!

There goes the lie-detector! Serbian support has come in the form of Serbian soldier currently operating in Afghanistan. Their professionalism has generated many excellent reports from the US units they are serving alongside currently.

I ws asked a direct question... thought it was a one-off Q. Didn't think it would be hijacked into another (yawn) Serb-Kosovo thread.

As for Albanian support to US action in Iraq... it's all BS, and we all know it.
Why?

"Albanian is nor water nor wine,
for money he'll do anything,
sell his mother,
and slay his father..."

19th century montenegro bishop, warrior and poet, Njegosh.

Now, this was just intro, not my argument.

Albanians are tools for all great powers, so that became their mentality.

In the 19th century, and few hundreds years before, they were using turkish system to drive out serbs from kosovo, with more then 70% of them converting to islam. In start 0f 20th century, they were used bu austria to prevent serbian exit to warm adriatic sea, thus preventing austria to expand it's influence to south. In WW1, they were using situation to fight serbs whitdrawing infront of bulgarians, austrians, and germans. During WW2, albanians formed "great albania'" (what they want now again), by expulsion of serbs from kosovo, under italian and then german protection. When yugoslavian partizans won over, they entered albania, helping albanian partizans establish system of government. In 1948, albania went over to Stalin against Yugoslavia, and eventualy they accepted some Maoist positions in their policy. Albania was for 50 years land of bunkers, with one national radio. Noone was getting in or out for up the end of 1980's. After fall of communism, they act in the same manner, looking for a boss. They are still highly criminalized society, without rule of law, with mafia operating founded on clan organisation. Linked with islamist countries, if some gain is on sight. hauling USA, if US would support them. No principles, no ideology, on ideas, just pure material gains. So, Americans should be aware that, in order to have such "friends" as albanians, US have to remain very powerful, in the contrary, Albanians will find another boss.
That's who Albanians are. And that's their idea od "partnership".

p.s. As for Kosovo, we have to have 1244 UN SC resolution fulfiled before any further negotiations could take place. Serbian refugees back, protected in serbian enclaves by serbian police. Then peace talks.

I don't see why we should attack the Albanians on everything, especially when it's not anti-Serb. I'm just glad they will be far away from Serbs.

These people have a right to have some pride in themselves and their accomplishments, as long as they aren't used to promote a racist agenda.

The Iraqis better watch their poppy fields. Most likely they will be harvesting them free gratis for resale to Eurowienes and American drug addicts. Since muslims find it very offensive to fire upon muslims, I wonder where the Albanians will be directing their fire.

The point is in albanian motives to do this. If they're realy so much in war on terror and peace, and democracy, they wouldn't be cooperating with people linked with Al-Qaeda in Kuks, Tropia, and few other camps in northern Albania. At least that's what they were doing before 1999.

Their motives are just to suck up to US, in order to protect their narko-business and promote greater albania.

The question has been raised: should the KLA be rewarded for terrorism via the partitioning of Kosovo?

NEVER!!!!

Of course, the Kosovo Shiptars want ALL of Kosovo (as amply shown by their March pogrom). And if they want to follw the classic program for "Greater Albania", they not only want "fusion" of "Kosova" (and West Macedonia) with what is now Albania, but to rule ALL of "Greater Albania" from Pristina!!!! So the other Albanians (especially the Orthodox Christian Tosks in the South) better BEWARE, or else their Paleolithic savage KLA cousins will be running amok all over them!!!!

As for us Americans, we do not need Albanian troops in Iraq at all!!! (That is, unless some of us want to convice ourselves that the "coalition of the willing" is one very feeble member bigger than it is.) If we want more (non-Iraqi) muslim allies among coaltion troops in Iraq, there are much better candidates, like some of the more reliable (i.e., non-Saudi) Gulf Arabs. After all, they and the Iraqis will have to live together in the same neighborhood after the Americans are gone.

And we have already met a few Albanians (and "Bosnian" muslims) in Afghanistan. They were on the OTHER SIDE, the side of bin Laden and the Taliban !!!! For all we know, there are Albanian jihadis in Iraq, too. (It is known that a major staging area for mujehadin attacking us in Iraq is muslim "Bosnia")

After what the Spanish pulled behind and in front of us in Iraq, dealing with terrorists, pulling out (early), I don't trust anyone else in their to jeopardize American lives.

If you want something done right...

Albanians run a large percentage of heroin through Europe.
Both Greece and Italy complain about them. They also run a terrific slave trade route through Kosovo now.
Albanians have given themselves a bad name in Europe. It seems like the bulk of them are crime-prone and brutal. Post something good from Albania.

Don't get me started about the muslim affliction of terror, terror and more terror in the Balkans.

It is a POCK on America what happened there...

MAJOR trade in drugs, men & women, arms for terrorists, etc. ALL flowing THROUGH the Balkans region and IN PARTICULAR, the MUSLIM SCUM in Albania.
