Kerry camp shows records detailing Purple Heart wounds

WASHINGTON -- Amid questions about his military records, John Kerry's campaign yesterday provided documentation of Vietnam War injuries that included shrapnel wounds to his arms, legs and buttocks that earned him three Purple Hearts.

Kerry spokesman Michael Meehan said the campaign was in the process of compiling the rest of Kerry's naval record and planned to begin posting it on Kerry's Web site by day's end. Kerry said all his military records are available to the public during an appearance Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."

The records did not provide evidence that Bush was in Alabama during a period when Democrats have questioned whether he reported for service.

The campaign could not locate a similar report for Kerry's original Purple Heart.

Imagine applying to any college and telling them you had grades for 2 of 3 classes, but documentation for the third class was "unavailable". These transparent slimeballs think they're fooling everybody.

Whenever I hear the Dems say Bush ONLY served in the guard, it's yet another example of how the media doesn't let the public know all the facts. #1 Flying jets is extremely dangerous #2 While Bush was in the guard, he was one member of a 4 man/pilot group that had VOLUNTEERED for duty in Vietnam! Did George W. Bush release his military records through his campaign? ... Seems like Kerry is selectively filtering the information. How is it that W has 450 pages of information from the National Guard, where he was not injured nor received any metals, and Effin Kerrys record is 150 pages, with 3 purple hearts, silver and bronze, Vietnam, early release, etc. ???

Inquiring minds want to know. Im not totally hung up on the number of pages ... but it just seems odd.

As I see it Kerry was #38 in the draft lottery, draft bait.(I know I was #24). He had political ambitions and when he couldn't get out of it he joined the Navy. When his coastal patrol boat assignment got changed to upriver he was out of the country in 4 months. He got his silver Star by charging a hut that had already been obliterated by multiple .50 caliber rounds and came out with a weapon. He already had 1 PH and 2 more to punch his ticket home. Piece of cake. That type of duty got you bumbs and scratches everyday.

Along with his final Purple Heart, Kerry received the Bronze Star after being wounded by the mine. One of his boatmates was thrown overboard in the blast, but Kerry pulled him to safety. Kerry did this with "his arm bleeding and in pain and with disregard for his personal safety," according to the citation.

...and he suffered shrapnel wounds in his left buttock and contusions on his right forearm when a mine detonated close to his boat on March 13, 1969.

So was his arm bleeding and in great pain, or was it a bruise? He got a Bronze Star for pulling a guy out of the water...but his "bleeding" arm was only bruised?

Sounds to me like his Bronze Star award doesn't match the facts either...

Not to beat a dead horse, but Meehan's statement in these news reports yesterday were the first time I've ever seen the statement that the Navy sent him out; all the other reports compiled on FR have said he not only asked to be sent home, but that he had to inform the powers that be WHAT the rule was.

I agree.....

I just met a Purple Heart recipient from the WOT a few months ago. He was sitting next to me on my flight to Germany for a TDY assignment. He was USAF Pararescue. He was shot in the face in Afghanistan. He was fully recovered, but for some pretty serious facial scarring. And you know what? He was looking forward to his time off (who wouldn't?) but he was also looking forward to his chance to get back in and protect our freedoms. It was an honor to spend a few hours with a man like that.

Now that's what I call a war hero.
