The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic welcomes pro-life FReepers who are coming to D.C. this weekend to stand for life against the pro-abortion "March for Women's Lives" on Sunday.
There are a host of pro-life activities going on today, Saturday and Sunday sponsored by various groups.
Today's activities are hard to find on the web, but I've been told there will be a prayer gathering at the Supreme Court at 1 p.m. followed by a pro-life protest outside John Kerry's office. Contact The American Life League for details, 540-659-4171.
Saturday at 11 a.m. there will be a counter-protest of so-called pro-choice Catholics who will be demonstrating at the Vatican Embassy across from Cheney's House. Details here.
All day Saturday, Operation Witness has activities planned. Most of the action will be at the at the Crystal City DoubleTree Hotel.
Sunday morning, Silent No More, comprised of pro-life women who have had abortions and are now speaking out about the harm abortion causes, will be gathering at the Holiday Inn near the Air & Space Museum.
All day Sunday, Operation Witness will be gathered along Pennsylvania Avenue from 15th Street to 7th Street, NW. Details can be found here.
Members of the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic will be meeting at the Navy Memorial on Pennsylvania Avenue (between 7th and 9th Streets, NW) between 11 a.m. and noon on Sunday. FReepers from out of town are welcome to meet us there.
Some notes: Traffic will be blocked from most of downtown D.C. If you plan to drive, come early as parking will be tight and getting around next to impossible. The Metro subway system is your best bet.
The Navy Memorial is centrally located and can be gotten to using the Yellow and Green Lines. The nearest Red Line station is Gallery Place. The nearest Orange and Blue Lines station is Federal Triangle.
The weather should be mild and dry with temps peaking in the high 60s.
I do not expect any violence along the march route. D.C. and federal law enforcement are taking every precaution to prevent trouble. The two sides will be separated by two sets of bike rack fencing. However, there is always a chance that some crazies on the other side will do something or try to provoke an incident. Stay calm and grab a cop if any trouble ensues.
The organizers of the pro-abortion march have invited just about every anti-American left wing group to participate. Also, this weekend the anti-capitalist protesters are demonstrating against the IMF/World Bank. Many of them will be staying over to march on Sunday.
The so-called March for Women's Lives is actually a hate Bush and all things conservatives rally. I believe they will do their cause more harm than good. After watching the left make jackasses of themselves the past few years at their D.C. demonstrations, I'm really looking forward to this one.
We'll be out there standing up for God's gift of life, of course, but the sight of the left demonstrating it's moral bankruptcy will be entertaining, to put it mildly.
WOMENS LIVES, YES?
BABIES LIVES, NO!!!

National Event
Washington, DC - April 25, 2004.We will bring the truth that abortion hurts women to Washington, DC on April 25th when NOW, NARAL, Feminist Majority and Planned Parenthood are planning their "March for Freedom of Choice Save Womens Lives." We will surround their rally of lies with our prayerful witness of the truth.
We invite women to hold "I Regret My Abortion " signs, men to hold "I Regret Lost Fatherhood" signs (please encourage fathers of aborted children to join us), and students, family, and supporters to hold "Women deserve better than abortion" and "Im Pro-life" signs. Instead of sharing our testimonies, we will let our signs speak and show that NOW does not represent all people in this country.
The March for Freedom organizers have invited some anti-war, anti-Bush protesters to join them. Therefore, we need to let you know there will be activist/antagonists present who can be very intimidating. This will not be an event for the faint of heart!
