Yeah, I got so worked up I confused the no-good bloodthirsty bastard McGreevey with the no-good bloodthirsty bastard Corzine.

My bad.

Pro-abortion politicians who call themselves Catholics have to make a choice: they can either be politicians or they can be Catholics. They can't be both.

"To Catholics, the Eucharist represents the body and blood of Jesus"

"That's not what I was taught. The Eucharist is the body and blood."

Ohhh, let's have a good knock down drag out.

"Ok Senator Kerry, either you is or you aint Catholic.
The shucking and jiving for the Massachusetts Catholic Democrats is over. You can affirm your faith or call Rev. Gene Robinson in New Hampshire. He is an expert at creating his own blend of religion and conduct"

And you made this reply to me because....?

You're supposed to go to confession to clear yourself of sin before communion.

"I speak, as your bishop, for the devout Catholics of the Diocese of Trenton. Jim McGreevey does not."

McGreevious is a Pharisee.

McGreevey on Friday said those remarks hurt him...

Good.

Right. I went to 6 years of Catholic school and am well aware. I'm also aware of the fact that, if every Catholic lined up every Saturday to confess their sins, priest would do nothing but hear confessions 24/7 to keep up. Since that does not occur and many Catholics are lapse in their confessions, there are therefore many false Catholics.

"Gov. James E. McGreevey said he loves his Catholic faith and will continue to practice it, but church leaders are wrong to tell him and other politicians not to support abortion rights."

Yeah, and while they're at it, they should stop pushing all of that 'Jesus' crap on them too. I mean, really, what business does religion have dictating morality to them?

Exactly. The politicians love to play the religion card portraying themselves as devout followers. However, they want to distance themselves from certain tenets of their religion when it ma prove harmful to their political ambitions. They don't like it when they are revealed as the hypocrites they really are. They want to pick and choose what beliefs are acceptable, i.e., the religion must conform to their personal credo. Kerry, the "devout" Catholic, is an enthusiastic supporter of abortion and he can marry again without an annulment. Yet he would scream like a stuck pig if the Church prohibited him from receiving Communion. I guess this makes him a CINO.

You only need to go to confession to confess serious sins. Being stubbornly and publicly pro-choice is a very serious sin. Being privately pro-choice is a sin too and the person should refrain from communion. "Since that does not occur and many Catholics are lapse in their confessions, there are therefore many false Catholics."

No doubt. However a notrious public sinner, or some one very well known, whom it is crystal clear is opposed to Church teaching is giving PUBLIC scandal to the faithful and can be refused communion or should not go.

Why don't they just leave the Church instead of being hypocrits and calling themselves Catholics

If he followed church teaching on reproductive issues as governor, McGreevey said he would be forcing all residents to accept his faith.

"Personally, I must follow my own conscience, my own set of beliefs," he said. "I think it's wrong when those who attempt to force, force a false choice between one's faith and religious tradition and the importance of governing within an open democratic society."

What an egotistical moron. Forcing all residence to accept HIS faith. Who does he think he is the Pope of N.J.?

Once when Mary McCarthy said something about the Eucharist being a symbol, Flannery O'Connor replied, "If it's only a symbol, I say the hell with it!"

McGreevey isn't just arguing with his Church, he's arguing with God. If he doesn't believe that, he should find another church to attend.

The Catholic church has a duty to tell its followers when they are not living their lives according to their faiths' teachings and beliefs.
It is then up to that person to make a choice between his lifestyle and his religious convictions.
Sometimes you have to make the hard choices and stand behind your decision, regardless of the consequences.

I agree there are many false Catholics, but it doesn't change the Church teaching. One minor clarification...only mortal sins need to be cleansed prior to reception of the Eucharist, which should cut down somewhat on the crowding outside of the confessional if most of us Catholics actually started following the doctrine:)

"but he loves his democrat party more..."

Obviously, that's why he's attempting to shape the church to fit the party.

Well then, Gov. McGreevey, Senator Kerry and other anti-life politicians should get another religion.

What kind of religion would tell it's members to kill?
