Perhaps you forget he held Stephen's coat at Stephen's stoning. Did holding Stephen's coat allow him to see what Stephen saw? Even if it did, it still wouldnt mean it was true, just something that Saul got off of Stephen at that moment in time.

Paul is plenty believable to me. He certainly was around the event scenes that involved Christ. That is, he was of that culture in that location at that time--regardless of his age.
