I think it will be a real upset if Toomey wins: the establishment is lining up the party regulars this very night as we discuss this primary election. If the establishment is half as strong in PA as it is in TX, then Specter is home free.

With the PA primary Tuesday, I wonder if Arlen Specter has spoken out on behalf of Michael R. Schiavo, the PA native living in FL who is trying to dehydrate his estranged wife, Terri. Dr. Howard Dean and Richard A. Gephardt spoke out for Michael Schiavo in their presidential primary campaigns, which went nowhere. I wonder if Specter is aware of this pending murder in FL.

I've been saying it for weeks. The momentum is with Toomey. He's going to win, and win bigger than is generally anticipated.

PA is a closed primary state, and frankly I wish all states had closed primaries. They keep down on the interparty meddling.

Momentum may be with Toomey, and I hope it is, but I still fear that the old magician Specter has a few rabbits yet to pull out of his top hat. He knows how to get the establishment people to the polls.

Toomey was on Mark Levin's program earlier today... Mark Levin gave him his enthusiastic support and urged all listeners to go 100% for him. All right. I wish Rush, Sean, and others were more forceful in supporting Toomey. Sean gave a de facto endorsement, but wouldn't come out outright and endorse him. Not sure about Rush

Specter must be quaking in his boots. GOOD and hopefully GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!

Ads very recently released by Specter admonish Republicans to vote for Specter, otherwise they exhibit party "disloyalty". Therefore, a loyal Republican will vote for Specter. This from a backstabbing "Republican" who votes with the Liberal Democrats 60% of the time.

In reality, a vote for Toomey over Specter, who would likely vote with Republicans (as opposed to democrats) 75% or more of the time, is TRUE loyalty to the Republican Party.

Also and even more importantly, a vote for PAT TOOMEY supports conservatives and conservative values.

Go PAT TOOMEY, GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope Specter goes down, and when he does, Santorum, Bush, Frist and all the rest better fight for Toomey twice as hard as they're fighting for Specter now.

That crowd has a real hard time supporting conservatives. When Mark Neumann won the Wisconsin Pubbie primary for Senate in '98 in sort of an upset, the establishment (i.e. former Governor and current HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson) didn't lift a finger or a dollar to support Neumann, who went on to lose controversially to Russ (Slimeroad) Feingold (yes, THAT Slimeroad).

I can believe that one. My two college student kids voted absentee for Toomey. Of course, it helped that mother and dad insisted....

I have the same feeling. Bush's and Santorum's campaigning with Specter seems to have made the difference. And that would be about 5% points.

For superstitious reasons, I hate to publicly admit it.

I hope we are wrong.

Until the last vote is cast, all of us who support Toomey, should do our best to promote him!

It just shows that there are many uninformed people among the conservative ranks, just as there are the uninformed among the liberals.

Didn't something like 34 to 38 percent of the "Christian right" allegedly vote to reelect the Clinton-Gore electors in 1996? Dole and Kemp did not attract some of these voters.

You're probably right. The media always associate ignorance with conservatism, yet lack of knowledge benefits the Left more often than not.

Bush's and Santorum's endorsements have helped Specter, without a doubt, but that just means Toomey has to work harder to get his supporters out to vote. We need to make sure that every conservative Republican in the state goes to the polls tomorrow. Turnout, as always, is crucial.

I wish I could be a Pennsylvanian for a day, just for the pleasure of being able to vote against Snarlin' Arlen.

Why would you be thinking of Toomey/Specter when your "package" has gone for a ride?

The Philly suburbs have boatloads of RINO Republicans, perhaps more than anywhere else in the nation, due to historical reasons, since the Philly suburbs were controlled by a GOP machine, and Dems wanted to have some impact in who was elected. The residue of that lives on. The GOP runs behind registration figures in Montgomery and Delaware County for most offices. Still, the RINO contingent disappears largely as one moves into The T, and does not have much resilience in the Pittsburgh metro area, which is notable for its large number of DIMO's. Pennsylvania is an interesting state.
