Muhammad Subeh was charged Friday with lying to FBI agents during their investigation into a man connected to the Aksa Martyrs Brigades, federal officials said.

Subeh, 41, of Rochester was charged with three felony counts of providing false statements to investigators, prosecutors said. The government said he lied when he denied he knew about the suspect's plans.

"In fact, Subeh knew the man was going to conduct a suicide bombing operation on behalf of the terrorist organization Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades, which has claimed credit for a large number of suicide attacks in Israel," Assistant US Attorney William Hochul Jr. said.

Subeh was arraigned Friday afternoon and released on $20,000 bail.

He is scheduled to return to court May 21. Attempts to reach Subeh at home were unsuccessful.

The group has been designated by the United States as a foreign terrorist organization.

Michael Battle, US attorney for the Western District of New York, said authorities don't know if the suspect, whom he declined to identify, participated in any bombings.

"We had reason to believe he was planning to," he said.

Battle would not say if the terrorism suspect was in custody, saying only the investigation is continuing.

Muhammad Subeh was well within his rights to lie to them!!!

He is a Muslim, and it is permissible for Muslims to lie to, steal from, or kill anyone who is an "infidel", that is, anyone that is not also a Muslim.

Plain and simple, that is a religious belief, and the free exercise of his religion is protected under U.S. law.

ACLU, where are you???
