[history]
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry has begun to question President Bush's National Guard service record personally in the past few days as he finds himself drawn deeper into charges and countercharges with the Bush campaign.
But Democrats say they are amazed to find themselves outflanked on the issue of Mr. Kerry's military service -- an issue they think should be a clear winner for them -- and see no alternative other than to fight each charge -- "hit or be hit," as one Democratic strategist put it.

But the issue isn't so much his service in Vietnam, it's what he did after that, with the VVAW, the medal tossing, the broad baseless allegations of war crimes, not remembering being at the meeting where assassination was discussed, etc.

"For their part, Democrats are trying to understand how press attention has switched from Mr. Bush's record to that of Mr. Kerry, who won a Bronze Star and Silver Star and earned three Purple Hearts in Vietnam"
Maybe cause he denies throwing them away when witnesses said he did.
BTW if I served in Vietnam, does that make me a war criminal as defined by Mr Thereza Heinz Kerry.

This needs to go to every Veteran, everywhere!
Let me see if I've got it straight as seen from from Kerry campaign point of view. When Kerry smears whole groups of Vietnam veterans as war criminals who have committed atrocities and is asked about his very own words, he is the one being smeared. And, if pressed about his votes and actions as a senator, he is being attacked. Have I left anything out??
Look closer...the "WALL" is marked with Kerry quotes.
John Kerry's Vietnam War Memorial Wall
I actually threw away my honor before I threw away my medals before I threw away my ribbons . . .
It was Kerry, Fonda and Communist fellow travelers and useful idiots - that caused us to be "greeted" as war criminals and never welcomed home....
Kerry slandered our dead brother in their graves, and our maimed brothers in their beds and wheelchairs!
Kerry can NEVER be forgiven for that travesty...that crime...that treasonous action....

We are supposed to listen to kerry's(not capitolised on purpose) demands about questions of anyones military service when documented pictures of him in the early seventies after his Viet Nam service indicate his disdain for the military by the improper wear of his uniform(awards placed on utility uniforms and improper hair length while in uniform)?
After all he(kerry) said and done after he returned from service including the improper uniform wear, are we supposed to really trust him at all about his prospects as a potential Commander in Chief?
After kerry's actions, post service, why should we even take his questions about anyones service seriously?

---"I think a lot of veterans are going to be very angry at a president who can't account for his own service in the National Guard and a vice president who got every deferment in the world and decided they had better things go do, criticizing somebody who fought for their country and served."---
This issue is as dead as a doornail and so is Kerry. Folks are starting to think that there's something not quite right with Mr. Kerry's head and it's not his haircut. The Dems need to dig up another candidate :^) and put this one back where they found him. No one can listen to Kerry's whining November.

Kerry is having a meltdown and all the RATs know it. All they can do is bash Bush on the worn-out and already answered National Guard issue, and everybody is already sick of hearing it. They're going to have a long 6 months of pretening the empty suit named Kerry is a viable candidate. It's great.

It doesn't matter to Democrats just like Bush's guard service doesn't matter to Republicans. Both sides are preaching to the choir.
But I do think (in my opinion) the most interesting aspect is how Kerry reacts to the charges. He gets flustered and seems unable to handle the normal slings and arrows of campaigning. What is says about his character is damning.
