Buchanan: maybe not so bad
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | Wednesday, April 28, 2004 | Gerald Schiller (letter to the editor)

Posted on 04/28/2004 11:09:11 AM PDT by Willie Green

Regarding Cyril Wecht's letter slandering Pat Buchanan ("Buchanan's hatred of Jews," April 25), it is on record that Israeli intelligence (the Mossad), recognized as the best in the world on Middle East matters, predicted prior to the invasion of Iraq that GIs would be welcomed into Baghdad with rose petals as liberators.

Bashing & backing Buchanan

Those who attack neocons are really attacking what they perceive to be "undue" Jewish influence ....

Pat Buchanan continues his unrelenting anti-Semitic rantings with his thinly veiled attack on neoconservatives ("The neocon hustlers," April 24).

Jack Mennis' letter to the editor in today's Tribune-Review is also excerpted.

I was unable to locate the PJB article referenced by Mr. Mennis.
Perhaps it was published elsewhere with a different title.

Needless to say, I side with PJB on this issue.
and as both a true conservative and native Pittsburgher,
I find it extremely humorous that Cyril Wecht typifies the Buchanan bashers.

Neighbor says Wecht punched, threatened him (Cyril Wecht Alert)

What the hell is a coroner that can't even get Vince Foster's "suicide" right doing in bashing anybody?

As long as we're connecting dots:

40 years on, Arlen Specter and Cyril Wecht still don't agree how JFK died

Slander or not, Buchannan sucks. I lost all of what little respect I had for him during the Florida recount.

After watching Buchanan's nitwittery as a replacement for Scarborough a couple of weeks ago, my disgust for him deepened significantly.

He is in no way a conservative merely a democRAT.

For an anti-Semite, ole Pat was certainly popular with the old Jewish ladies in Florida in 2000.

It is ironic that two anti-Iraq war guys (pat and ralph) helped GW Bush into the White House as much as any two individuals. If it weren't for Pat and Ralph, Gore would be in power. But so would Saddam and the Tailiban.

I think he is referring to the "Al Gore is more qualified to be president" and "looks like Al Gore won to me" remarks Buchanan made.

But regarding the story, why do we really want to bring up and post Pat's old articles about the Jews? ... like the one where he claimed that Jews could not have been suffocated with diesel fumes like the Holocaust survivors claimed.

Actually the article is only a week old.

I presume the point is to warn the nation, and particularly Republicans, of the perfidy (or stupidity) of George Bush as well as to alert us all to the danger of the Jews, who are running the foreign policy of our nation.

Pat is bashed because he is for America first. He was right about Iraq as he was about illegal immigration, abortion, homosexual practices and job-exporting deals.

Pat is for American interests and not world interests. He is for getting bin Laden who bombed us but not for spending lives or money for the problems of Iraq, Kosovo, Korea, Israel, Formosa, England, Ireland, Germany, Mexico, Canada, the UN, Gibraltar, or anwhere else.

I basically wrote him off after 9/11. I guess "mount up and ride to the sound of the guns" was just a campaign slogan.

Jack Mennis is entitled to his opinion, but at the very least he should acknowledge that the concerns Buchanan voiced about Iraq in 2002 and 2003 were well-founded. In fact, the three Defense Department officials listed in this letter were so thoroughly erroneous in their Iraqi war plans and predictions that one has every reason to question: 1) their motives; or 2) their competence.

Richard Perle, in fact, is no longer even in the picture -- he had the highly unusual and quite remarkable distinction of resigning twice under a cloud of disgrace -- first as head of the Defense Policy Board in 2003, then from his position on the board in 2004.

Since you agree with Pat, how do you think it happened, and what should we do about it?

The nomadic tribes of the Middle East have been feuding with each other since the dawn of recorded history. While I certainly hope and pray that they may someday peacefully coexist, I have absolutely no expectation that I'll ever see it in my lifetime. Based on that perspective, I believe that we should minimize our involvement and exposure to Middle East politics. To that end, I advocate peaceful development of our own energy natural resources. If not for our dependence on OPEC oil, we'd ignore the Arab-Israeli conflict the same way we ignore the Hutu and Tutsis in Africa.

I agree and my belief is that this country would've been much better off had we followed many of PJB's suggestions on GOALS 2000, NAFTA/GATT/WTO, illegal immigration, social programs, etc. Now we get to live with huge deficits, declining manufacturing, billions in aid for illegals, billions of lost tax revenues from employers who hire illegals, a ruling elite with allegiances only to their corporate benefactors, dissolving of our borders to hasten the FTAA and the continued reformation from a constitutional republic into a banana republic.

From your link- Pat Buchanan: "...major Israeli settlements on the occupied West Bank, planted by Sharon in violation of international law..."

Why is it that Pat Buchanan is anti-UN regarding the United States but pro-UN when they are bullying Israel?

Says a lot about the man doesn't it?

Here is what I was referring to. In his New York Post column of March 17, 1990, Pat Buchanan wrote:

Since the war, 1,600 medical papers have been written on "The Psychological and Medical Effects of the Concentration Camps on Holocaust Survivors."

This so-called "Holocaust Survivor Syndrome" involves "group fantasies of martyrdom and heroics." Reportedly, half the 20,000 survivor testimonies in Jerusalem are considered "unreliable," not to be used in trials.

Finally, the death engine. During the war, the underground government of the Warsaw Ghetto reported to London that the Jews of Treblinka were being electrocuted and steamed to death.

The Israeli court, however, concluded the murder weapon for 850,000 was the diesel engine from a Soviet tank which drove its exhaust into the death chamber. All died in 20 minutes, Finkelstein swore in 1945.

The problem is: Diesel engines do not emit enough carbon monoxide to kill anybody. In 1988, 97 kids, trapped 400 feet underground in a Washington, D.C., tunnel while two locomotives spewed diesel exhaust into the car, emerged unharmed after 45 minutes.

Demjanjuk's weapon of mass murder cannot kill.
