Task Force Danger Soldiers Detain Six, Confiscate Weapon Caches

TIKRIT, IRAQ -
Soldiers from Task Force Danger detained six suspects and confiscated several large weapon caches during three raids in north central Iraq April 28.

In a 9 a.m. raid, Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment detained six suspects near Tikrit. The suspects were discovered loading munitions and scrap metal into a vehicle. The soldiers confiscated 30 120mm mortar rounds and 8 with fuses. The detainees were turned over to the Iraqi Police.

In a second raid around 10:20 a.m., Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 150th Armor Regiment located a weapon cache near Mandeli containing 122 rocket-propelled grenade rounds.

In a final raid at 5:30 p.m., Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment located a large weapon cache near Baqubah containing 1,500 14.5mm rounds.

All the weapon caches were transported to nearby military facilities for later destruction.

This is what I don't understand. They turned over the detainees to the Iraqi police? They'll be reloading weapon caches any minute now.

Vast majority of Iraqi police are on our side, and are standing up to enemies who tortured and murdered their loved ones. They are very courageous, and risking their lives after suffering for over 34 years under the same cruel neighborhood thugs who are making a desperate last stand today.
